Someone has a 1995 BMW M3 registered for the 4/23 in STS. My gut tells me it should not be there, but I don't know enough about this car (e36?) to look at the rules to determine if it can fit into STS. I am thinking that some e36 had a 3.2L engine (which would push it out of STS). Also, did that M3 have a limited slip that would not fit into the limited (no pun intended) types of limited slip diff that is allowed for STS?

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

The 1995 is a 3.0 and it will have a clutch-type rear limited slip.

I'm no autox rules expert(but I am an M owner!), but I think it goes in STU now. http://www.thsccforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=917&highlight=stu

The factory tire width is 235mm, STS rules say 225 max. So I guess you could put skinny tires on it, but the STS rules also say eligable cars would usually come from D, F, G, or H stock classes. So I'm pretty sure you wouldn't get away with that. If you read down further to STX where the wider size tires are allowed, it's on the list of cars specifically excluded from STX. So up until they added STU/STS2 it wasn't really legal for any ST classes.

The clutchpack LSD specifically keeps the M3, any E30 325is/es, and any LSD-equipped E36 and E46 325/328/330 out of STS.

The only car that the viscous LSD allowance lets in AFAIK is the SE-R. Maybe there are others with the box-o-jello, I dunno.

The M3 is furthermore even too fast for STX and is specificaly excluded my name.

Mike, if you looking for another car, why you don't look at another German car company, mainly the one where the name start with a P...

Mike - are you saying that the SCCA rulebook excludes you, by name, from STX? Wow!
