Went to a 2 day AX with South Carolina Region at Florence SC this past weekend. Event was at the Civic Center, a spacious asphalt lot. It was < an hour past Laurenburg off I-95. Probably because of the proximity to the Atl Tour and across the state from SCR's home base the turnout was small. We got 5 runs each day and still finished by 4PM. Sat after the AX there was a car show inside the center and a drift demonstration in the AX lot. Sat the lot was quite gritty (about like Sanford) after all the rain and the course was composed mostly of sweapers meant staying in the groove or pushing out in the marbles. We corded two of the tires we had run at Laurenburg on Sat, so we had no choice but to run on the Azenis we have on the Miata for street/rain tires on Sunday. That was unfortunate since the drifters cleaned off the lot and laid down some rubber making the surface much better on Sun (ran a slightly modified version of Sat course in reverse) and SCR was offering 100.00 for combined FTD and for combined FTPAX. We had made some changes, not for the better it turned out, that made our car push like a pig, hence the corded tires, on Sat. Even then Donna was 12th in PAX on Sat, and .2 out of first in CS. I sat in 3rd ~ 1 sec out of 1st. I overdrove badly trying to make the car behave. We readjusted the setup back on Sun AM and the car handled so much better that even with the Azenis we finished 1,2. The slower tires hurt our PAX tho dropping Donna to 17th for the weekend. We were pleased with the 615s performance, they didn't seem to get greasy when hot.
We have a new set of Hoosiers ready to be mounted for the Atl Prosolo this weekend and will be running the tried and true setup. I'm just hoping for more than DFL since our new shocks have yet to arrive and the setup is far from ideal. Donna has a surprise up her sleeve so watch for the results.

I went to an SCR event last month. I felt like it was well organized. The only thing is the competition is not as stiff as THSCC (I know it goes without saying!). For example, the event was the day before the L'burg event at BMW in Greer, SC. I came in 2nd in DS .3 seconds behind the winner who had Victoracers (I had 1/2 tread Azenis). I also got 7th overall PAX out of about 110 drivers. Then in L'burg the next day, I won DS, but got 25th or so overall PAX out of about 120 drivers.

I just wanted to let you guys know that you still are elite! 8)

By the way, I am probably going to go to the Pro in ATL next weekend too. I have never been to anything that big, so I am expecting to get destroyed. I won't tell anyone that I am affiliated with this club!

Even DFL at a national event is still respectable!
