Formal THSCC exceptions to SCCA rules?

Even on a national level a protest for a missing badge would probably result in no penalty, even if it was upheld, for example Tom Hoppe getting protested because of his dust Shields being on back wards, they up held the protest but did nothing to his times.

The whole point of the post I made was that it would sure be nice to not have to do that locally. Given the just about unanimous dislike of my little proposal everyone will have to remain sticklers.

Why have rules then? I'll throw an LSD in Hoosier non-DOT slicks and we'll all run in the same class. We can all see who can outspend each other...

I just have limited tolerance for allowing people to do stuff at the local level, as this is a potential stepping stone, and when they try to go to a divisional or National level, they're being mis-lead on what's really allowed by the rules. Myself, Jim P., Jim F., Chuck & Donna to name a few all went from the local level with THSCC and other clubs to the bigger scene. For guys like Rick Butters and Todd Breakey, who are venturing into the Divisional/National events, they're not dissillusioned by what's legal locally and elsewhere.

We also tend to live in a vacuum with THSCC. Other club members run with us, and knowing we use the SCCA rules sets the notion that they would be followed. - AB

Ah, very good point. Locally, I doubt I would protest, but I would bring up again through the course of the day that x,y, and z they DIDNT tell me about is illegal

We all race on the gentleman's agreement to a point, and we all make certain assumptions that people have prepared their cars and have classed themselves accordingly. We all have a *basic* level of trust for eachother in that the class illegal 'unseen' not 'not easily seen' modifications for a car are not there. :shrug:

Anyway, after this threads discussion, I am beginning to be more of the school of thought that sticking with the rules is good, but locally, if a driver just had steering rack bushings on his car and was in stock class, I would not get on his case.

That's just me though.

Club level "gentleman's agreements are fine with the understanding that if someone new, from another club, or currently agreeing wants to change/opt out. At that point, everyone else would be open to protest, at a disadvantage, or the class would be closed to anyone not adhering - gee another new class.

I am with Rick, Aaron, Jim et al. club classes should mirror SCCA classes.

Just my $.02 no offense to those who disagree :wink:

And now let's get back to that whole negative feedback thing. You know, the one that has made this forum an unbearable piece of shit for the past couple of weeks. I love negative feedback. I do. And I don't mean love like the the little love that you think that you had when you first saw that substitute teacher in second grade, but the kind of love you only read about in those cheesy romance novels my aunt buys by the bushel. I crave it. Lucky for me, I got to read a bunch of it here lately too. Thanks guys, I appreciate it!

Negative feedback? Lot's of constructive and destructive criticism... I already learned my "Wes Eargle" three rules of THSCC.

Wes, I think the Stormtrooper would kick Batman's ass in a hip thrust contest.

Notice the superior technique of the arms. Batman flails his to the side. The agent of the Empire, honed by years of training (although not that many because of the accelerated growth we found out about in Episode II) has a much more precise and purposeful motion that draws the imaginary target into his groin chakra.
