I want to thank all the volunteers that made this weekend pretty good. I think we had about 50 novice students and about 20 instructors. I know the students had over 60 minutes of seat time and probably over 24 total runs!

The dedication of the instructors was great. These men and women gave up the first nice weekend of the year to help out. That is waaaay cool. Thanks! I know a lot of people questioned the Saturday morning set up. The only way it worked was having 90% of the instructors there by 7:45 in the morning!!!!!

A special thanks to the students. I did not hear any complaints. They worked well covering the course and helping each other out. With so much negativity around, it is really refreshing to be around these peeps. They jst want to learn the sport :)

Hey Christine....awesome lunch. If you think her burgers are good, you should see the hoagie spread she laid out for us.

OK- to start with, this is Rebecca not Todd. (For some reason our computer won't let me log him out of the site.)

Having said that--- I just want to thank everyone that was out there this Saturday. It was a great school. I told Todd that I wouldn't come back if I made an idiot of myself, and thanks to Sonya, M.E., and Ryan I didn't do that! Granted, I didn't set any records, but I did have a good time. I was just glad to see that I could find my way around the course; something I am not certain I would have been able to do without the instructors help. Despite the fact that Todd says that if I didn't hit any cones, it was because I didn't push the envelope hard enough, I feel like that is somewhat of an accomplishment.

Thanks again! Because of everyone's help, I will definitely be back!

I had a great time. Learned a lot and learned how much willpower it takes to switch from rallyx mode to autox mode. Also learned that even though my tires are decent and great for the road, they totally suck on the track. Even Kevin can attest to that! Anyway, thanks to all who put it on, and thanks to all who were there for the instructing. :D

OR... you can just try to use RallyX mode at the autoX. If you watch the way I drive, I am sure it would be MUCH better suited for rallyX rather than autoX.

However, that course was a GREAT introduction to autoX though. It may not have been the fastest, but it was a great way to see how MOMENTUM and transfering from one element to another made your faster -- not the 'right' pedal.

I was not at the school, but it is great to continue seeing a large NOV contingent at all our autoXes :)

New blood is ALWAYS a good thing :)

Jim & Rick,

I thought this turned out to an excellent school format. I was a little skeptical about how splitting the 2 groups into 2 more groups was gonna work, but I believe it turned out to give students more runs than any other school I can remember. I'm not sure how that is, but dang it sure seemed to be true!

I think y'all did a great job on the entire weekend! :cheer:

Shot courses.

They were easy to learn (and could be walked in advance).

They didn't have any elements that overlaped, so they weren't too confusing. They also were very cone friendly.

In spite of being sub 30 second courses, they had overlap. Our launch interval was phenomenal.

I also think it helped that we had "extra" instructors. those people were able to take over timing and starter duties so we had experienced people everywhere.

For some reason we also had a group of students who were NOT slow. Everyone out there was fast.

I just wanted to add my thanks to the folks who volunteered to instruct and organize the novice school. I was up at VIR trading paint with the SCCA guys, and "delegated" my son Jon's introduction to the sport to y'all. I knew he would be in good hands. Isuspect most teenagers are going to be more receptive to instruction from someone other than their parent, and me not being there may have helped remove any father-son competitive distractions. I heard glowing reports from Jon and Ann (who went along to supervise). Thanks for introducing yet another generation to responsible motorsport!
