I want to do the Pro but am not an SCCA member yet. Can I register now or do I need to wait until I have the membership?

Todd...
Rather than giving you quick and easy answers, I highly recommend that you email Nancy Downing at SCCA (ndowning@scca.com) and ask her all your questions. That way you get the right answers. It happens all too often that SCCA changes something from the previous year and since most of us don't have their 2005 rulebooks yet, we may not know about these changes. Nancy's easy to work with and will answer you quickly. :D

As Donna says, they change things with the toss of a pony tail (especially the Prosolo queen's), but in the past the safest thing to do was to pay for your membership (and rulebook) at the first event to be sure to not get into a hassle over your new card not arriving in time, SCCA can sometimes (!) be rather slow getting them out. You do not need to pay for a PS license until you do your 2nd pro of the season. If you do pay in advance, and your card hasn't arrived by a week before the event, be sure you call and have them fax you something saying you paid for your membership or they will make you pay for it again at the event.
You do not need to have your membership to pre register for the event. I'd suggest registering ASAP since pros are capped and there are 4 less events this year. Your car # is first come first serve so if you have a favorite # or limited magnets registering will lock the #. First driver must use a 2 digit # from 11-99 second driver will use the same # with a 1 in front to make a 3 digit # i.e. 33 and 133, 21 and 121 etc. I'd suggest using a high # for your first event so you don't end up being first pair in grid (grid is set by car # order first round) for your class without anyone to follow, PS procedure can be confusing in the heat of battle the first time, and you don't want to lose a time for not being in the right place.
