This message is being cross posted to the forum and the mailing list.

If you are planning on attending the Test-n-Tune on Sunday and also plan on competing in any other THSCC autocross this year then please get an Annual Tech Inspection.

Benefit to you: Instant tech sticker at all events. No more waiting for your tech inspection.
Benefit to us: Fewer tech inspections to do at each event.

Please download the Annual Autocross Safety/Tech Inspection Form. Read it. Understand it. (Ask your friendly neighborhood autocross tech inspector if you have any questions.) Sign it. Bring it to the event. When you're ready for your annual tech inspection, raise your hood and put the signed form under the windshield wiper. Please stay with your car. "Mr. Tech" will perform the inspection and answer any questions you may have. He will sign your form and return it to you. Keep it in your glove box and refer to it as necessary. An annual tech sticker will be affixed to the inside of your windshield.

At future events you are expected to self-inspect your car. Use the checklist on the form. An event tech sticker will be automatically provided by the tech inspectors.

"Mr.Tech" at the Test-n-Tune will be our very own Dustin Fredrickson. :woo: (I will be in Arizona.)

Remember, we reserve the right to ridicule anyone who passes up this opportunity.

Annual Tech will be available at the first couple of autocrosses too.

Is anyone else having problems printing the annual tech form or is it just me?

Disregard my previous post. Problem solved with a full system reboot.

I hope nobody kills me for this, but I notice on the tech form it says the helmet needs to be M90 or better. Isn't it time to move to M95 or something? Seems like currently allowing helmets 11-15 years old might be bad. Of course, I'm guessing some of those loaners we have (if not all) are getting that old, too. I know it's "only" autocross and all, but it's also "only" your head...

Or maybe I'm off by one year and it's next year we're supposed to make that change.

I think that's changing this year. The time trial program says that in 2006 it requires M95 and above.

Most of the loaners we bought on a closeout of helmet a couple of years ago, and they were all M2000. - AB

I *think* the Timetrial program is actually going to SA, not M.

Simon,

My annual tech printout was collected at the Test and Tune so I'm not sure about its status. I did not receive an annual sticker. I'll print out another tech form but you may want reply and let people know what to expect if this happened to them as well.

Hmmm. Well I wasn't there so it happened differently than last year. What I did last year was to sign your Tech Form and hand it back with instructions to keep it in the glove box and use its checklist for every event when you do the self-check.

In case anyone didn't understand: the annual tech inspection does not mean that you are tech'ed for the entire year. It means that you have agreed to perform a self-tech on your own car at every event that you attend. Our initial inspection let's us determine if your car meets the requirements at that time.

So, Chris, find me on Sunday. I'll sign your new Tech Form (and givfe it back to you) and affix a new tech sticker to your windshield.

Simon

As far as I know Simon that is what we did. Dustin was heading up the tech inspection and that is what he instructed Ryan, Emmett, and I to do. I am not sure why Chris didn't get his form back or the sticker.

Chris,

It may be because when tech was done I was not at my car. I was probably walking the autoX course. Also, I initially parked on the main runway between the AutoX course and the elements section.

I suspect one, or both, of the above contributed to me not receiving the sticker.

My Tech Inspection is good for 4 years... oh yea!

What's good enough for new cars in NC is good enough for teh THSCC, right? :)

Nope, sorry. With all the effort I put into making these new Annual Tech stickers (with the correct year now) every one of you will get one.

I doubt it but my deputies might be able. I am currently living/working in the UK. If you could bring it around sometime I could do it for you free of charge. You'll find me here... <http://tinyurl.com/8u3v4>.

:D

Simon

PS: There's no "official" charge for Annual Tech but we have been known to accept, ahem, donations.
