Well, I was horribly slow in Mike's BMW with Falkens at the night series events. I think I was about 2 seconds slower after 3 runs than I was in my 2.5RS with the same tires. Loose car plus being used to AWD made for a fun couple of runs, though. Of course, when Mike drove my car he was almost as fast as he was in his car - advantage, AWD.

I'd say it was Whitney's ability to sit in anything and go fast that might have helped him drive your, my and any other car fast. Not which wheels are driven by the engine.

Here here.

I agree to that.

Ah, but what if he had only driven AWD & was going to RWD for a few runs? Would he still be immediately fast in anything? All I'm saying is that AWD cars are easier to just get into & go fast if you've never driven them before - and that if you're used to AWD, it's sort of a handicap if you're trying to drive something else fast.

In other words, it's not as much work to get up to speed with AWD.

I have a feeling that may bitch slap me this year going from high power AWD to low power FWD. We shall see :) Aaron Buckly may make guest visit in my car, so at least I will get to see how fast the car CAN go.

Alright Kevin, I'll make the supreme sacrifice and take your WRX for a few laps & see how I do compared to my time in the Miata. You know-for science.

J/k

I know from experience that going from a heavy front-wheel drive car with relatively high power to a lightweight underpowered 1wd Miata took some getting used to. For me though the Miata felt relatively natural right off the bat. It is so easy to make the back end step out where the Jetta had to be coerced to rotate. I can't drive the Jetta hard with confidence anymore though. It might have something to do with the brakes.

Ryan, I would love to take a fun run or two in it at some point - especially if it can match the speed & fun factor of Scott Sawyer's STS Civic (drool).

This week needs to hurry up & be over. I'm ready for some of this -> :car:

I dont have a problem with that. It should be just as fun as Scott's, I have the "STS Recipie" on my CRX.

Be warned.. I have been apart of his 'fun runs'. They aren't too fun for you OR your car. :)
