So what do you think and why? The pax is very similar, and I know which class should be fastest given equal prep, development, and driver etc.

I think I was like two seconds behind the top STS drivers last year, my excuse would be... underprepped car that is new to me and driver could use some more prep too

By the end of 05 season my goal will be to meet the expectation of the pax which is to beat STS class times by small margin and STX times by an even smaller margin.

On our less grippy sites I think the AWD cars will have the advantage

Based on the past few seasons record and absence of Tom Hoppe, it's hard not to bet on Kevin Allen if/when he runs his new WRX in STX. But who knows, we have lots of talent in our club, and it's also not unheard of for a newcomer to surprise us all. It's sure to be a fun and interesting season.

So Wes, what will you be running in 05? The Contour or Miata?

Regarding STS, who knows what is going to happen. Kevin has moved on. Chris Brown has moved into another class. I assume Aaron is going to be running in “X” class with his Celica. I am going to remain in STS at least one more year as I work toward building a non-STS car for next year.

For my car I am working on new spring rates (using the proven method of higher rates in the rear), Energy Suspension bushings all around, move to a more sane rear alignment (no more rear toe out settings that have caused me to have such a high number of spins per event which was my Achilles heal last year) as well as hope that the new Azenis 615 will becomes the new STS "it tire" and that I am the only one running it in STS!!

Short of someone showing up on a regular basis in STS with a "spec STS ‘89 Civic Si" or people moving out of “X” class, I expect STX to kill STS in overall PAX results as I don’t know of anyone planning to run STS with a car that is either nationally or regionally competitive.

OK, I'll just go ahead & talk some smack, since everybody else is being too nice...

When (if) I run the WRX in STX, STX will be faster.

When I run Kevin Hoff's Miata in STT, STT will be faster.



STS will be destroyed this year.



PS - anybody know how to convert a Miata to AWD?

oh, another PS - STU will (or at least SHOULD) destroy all the classes listed above.

Yeah I think that would fall under comfort and convience right...... AWD is only there to help get home in the event an unexpected snow storm. It doesn't really make the car faster.
