See this is just what I said. Extend the points out to 10th for TIRE since it is such a large class. Then try and get the TIRE guys a good deal on tires from a club sponsor. It would make it better for everyone and it's a simple solution.

After running the full season this year in the current TIR class I had alot of fun running against all the other different drivers and types of cars, it pretty competative and alot of fun.

And the point for wanting to change TIR class?

It appears TIR has hijacked another thread. This looks like a trend to me. What disparity do you see that I am missing?

I calculated the TOPGUN and Dishman trophy points last year and the points system I used was the same as the regular season points. Including dropped events.

In case of a tie, what is the tie breaker? Do you go from 2 dropped events to 1 dropped event? Enquiring minds want to know (how to beat Patrice)...

It's whoever has more first place finishes. If tied, more 2nd place finishes, and on down the list until you get to whoever wins the fist-fight, I think...

More ideas to "level the playing field"

THSCC Spec car class....

Those who want to run in this class pool money together to buy a beater that everyone takes turns using. Pull names out of hat to determine run order at each event.

THSCC IROC....

Once again people pool money together but they buy three cars. FWD, RWD and AWD. One or two runs in each car per event. Add up your best times from each type of car for an overall time.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Oh, and each car should have different engine configuration as well.. Maybe FWD can be a light, but low HP Honda, RWD can be something heavier, but with large V8 (I see something like Kent Young's SM Z28) and AWD could be a turbo (WRX). :D

My point in scoring was only that in really big classes like TIRE that only the top 5 each week get points. Everybody else gets only a particapation point. It might be fun for the guys that don't finish in the top 5 week to week to be able to develop some points battles further down the line.

If the ties have the same amount of firsts or somehow none, it might be cool to do a 'runoff' at the last event.

We're here again? We've discussed this so many times in the <2 years I've been with the club that I'm starting to believe that it's only brought up to pull peoples chain. What's to discuss? All tires aren't created equal so buy some good street tires and quit crying or... just quit crying. As for those who aren't getting points... then they need to step up to the plate and drive better.

Since when is racing a touchy, feely, let's give hugs and we'll all feel warm inside sport? When it gets to that point, count me out.

Gulf coast AXers in FL actually do that. They have a spec Pinto and a spec Capri that is rented out for each event to as many people as want to run in it. They have a year long points championship for those people.

Amen, Dr. Phil!

Wow, we sure could've used you in the anti-pax discussion going on in the SE Subaru forum yesterday... seems they want a system that's fair to everybody (meaning, they get a trophy), including those who don't prepare their cars well or know how to drive them.

Chuck,

My brother races with Gulf Coast on occasion. He told me that at the last race he went to that the spec Pinto and spec Capri were for sale.

Maybe we can talk Bowie into NOT taking his ski trip this year and use that money to buy those for the club.

Phil....

You really need to get off the fence and say what you really mean!

Seriously, I agree with you. If points are that important to you, and you want want to be competitive, AND its your car that is holding you back (NOT your driving skill), then you have to pay the price. Even at the lowest level.

FWIW... The best investment I ever made to move myself up in points when I was in the TIR class was the Evolution driving schools I took over the last 3 years and the schools our club put on. Not tires or other speed stuff.

Come to think of it, I probably could benefit from another Evolution school based on the way I have driven this year...
