STS2 project updates... Whats up with your ride? (any class)

I have a pretty good idea who's planning on running in STS2, but curious what everyone has done so far for prepping the cars

I'll be running a 91 miata with VLSD.

So far the car has....

Tein Flex coil-overs (ride hight set at SLAMMED to the ground

)
Kosei K1-TS 15X7 wheels
Kumho MX 205/50/15 tires
Racing Beat Intake
Timming set to 14 degrees
Racing beat sway bars

Still waiting for Borola cat back exhaust

Anyone planning on running STS2 that hasn't spoke up earlier?

I've got a car now. That's about it. :lol:

For the early events it'll be ES legal with the exception of wheels/tires.

I'm going to do a GC coil-over setup with SA Konis. DA is just too easy to confuse myself at this stage. I want to fabricate a thing similar to the FM top mount to allow extra rear suspension travel. The bars will probably be none on rear and 5/8 or so front. The car is my daily driver this year so it won't be even close to maxed out.

Engine stuff is for next season. I'm thinking RB intake and header then a custom 2.5" cat-back with a Borla muffler. I'm also planning on fabricating an intake connector pipe and block-off plate with serious heat shielding. Now to figure out how to adapt a megasquirt to the stock ECU enclosure and wiring... :twisted:

Lightening will happen if I start doing track events -- I don't even want to think of what could happen in an accident with race seats without a proper roll bar. :shock:

It seems like here lately all I have done is prep my CRX :roll:

The motor is back together, in the car and 95% hooked up. I have to get some new vacuum/heater hoses, alternator belt, install lower half of exhaust manifold, tweak my short ram intake, fluids, battery and double check EVERYTHING. I will fire it up Saturday

If it dosent start I will probably set it on fire and take up underwater basketweaving.

All my go fast goodies have showed up as well

Here is my setup:

Koni Yellows (Front OTS Valving, Rear SPSS Valving)
Ground Control Coilovers 400F/450R
Ground Control Honda Top Hats (Gets me almost an extra inch of travel so I can slam it yo)
Energy Suspension Master Kit
Megan Racing Header
Ebay Short Ram Air Intake
Underdrive Pulley
Removed A/C
15x7 Borbet Rims with the 205/50/15 Azenis RT-215 (Im getting Kosei's like yours when my bank account recovers)

I already have my Corbeau's mounted from the Talon as well.

If everything goes as planned and I get it running this weekend, I am gonna take it to my work and weigh it Sunday. It will be dynoed Feb 5th at Carolina Automasters. We will see how good my engine building skillz are.

My prep will consist of getting into the car & clicking the seatbelt (unless Hoff needs help with installing stuff).

I'm just not as industrious as Ryan here. I started working on it and grew to hate it. Bowie Jr has it now.

No idea what, or even if, I'll drive this year at autocrosses and DEs, especially if the bite I've got on the race car comes through

Ryan's last daily driver was a DSM... he's USED to working on his street cars to keep them running.

Rice, on the other hand, is used to a daily driver that always runs. It's just the race car he'd have to work on sometimes.

His daily driver is the Excursion right? Good luck owning a Ford that *always* runs. :wink:

Actually it's a Ford Explorer which doesn't cost him a dime to keep it running...company perk.

The DSM was just a play toy...thank goodness! I know I sure had fun with it.

Actually its because I am a cheap bastard. I updated my spreadsheet yesterday and I have spent less than $3,700 TOTAL on this project. Thats rebuilding the motor, decking out the suspension, and buying the car. My wish list is down to less than $1,000 of which 50% is comfort/convience/BLING mods.

Sounds like you'll have a nicely prepped car and I'm impressed that you've only spent $3,700 so far. I think I'm still just below $5K in the miata and that's about as far as I'll go for now. But then again if you make me look slow then I might have to adjust the miata budget :lol:

We shall see this weekend, I finally found an alternator belt that fits my UD pulley. I will post what happens or keep an eye out on the news for some wacko setting his car on fire

See, I hate repairing broken cars, and honestly have grown to hate old and broken anything. Upgrading the CRX - like the night me, Whitney and Jimmy put the suspension on it - is kind of fun. But replacing torn motor mounts, installing axles (AGAIN), changing timing belts...I hate it.

I'd grown to hate the Integra because it started to break a lot. After a while with the CRX, I realized that no matter how much stuff I fixed, I'd end up with a 15 year old, 200K mile economy car that was likely to break AGAIN the very next day.

My motto for life is now: Cheap, New, Good. Pick two.

Think about it.
