Who's going to be running an STX car this year? I'm thinking Keith Quistorff & Mike Winn, but not sure about others.

Kevin,

I'll be running my (BMW) STX car for at least half of the autocrosses in '05.

ok, I'll look for you on the entry list when deciding what class to run (currently planning to run DS, STX, ESP, STU, STS2, DSP and/ or GS at one time or another  )

Hmmm, did you go out and buy a couple more cars? Sounds like at least 3 or 4 different cars are involved in your plan.

Co-driving an STS2 car

WRX wagon could be DS, STX or ESP at any point during the year

An 05 STi might be on the agenda, if not & I can't find a buyer for the 2.5RS, it will be running either GS or DSP (or both)

Gotta try some new things this year; I've only autoxed an STS 2.5RS up to this point.

:D

I just got a 1995 BMW M3 with 3.0 liter motor on eBay last month with 129000 miles. Can I autocross it in STX class?

Mods:
Some Homemade Cold Air Intake with K&N Air Filter
Rollbar
Harnesses
X Brace
Steel braided brake lines
7.5 x 17 OEM BMW Rims
225 45 17 Street Tires

No, the SCCA has specifically excluded the E36 M3 from STX. The nearest equivalent class you are able to run in is STU.

Describe the cross brace? The SCCA frowns on triangulation, but if it's only connecting 2 points you should be OK.

The X Brace is a OEM part available as a bolt on part for E36 BMW's. The Lightweight M3, Convertibles and Z3's had it from the factory. Threaded holes exist for mounting it. It connects to the front subframe under the engine instead of a standard brace at same mounting points. Very common modification to give the car a more solid feel with less flex.

I will run in BSP class. I hope others will run in that class.

You might not be legal for that class Either, even if the brace is oem if it was not advialbe for you car or a car on the same line of as yours in the rule book, as well as the 3.0 engine is proabably no leagal either, the most leagal class would probably be SM (Street Mod)

The 3.0l motor was stock in 1995. Assuming it hasn't been modified, it's OK for any class.

LTW and non-LTWs are on the same line, so the x-brace is legal.

Welcome to BSP.

That's right...It comes with a stock, non-viscous type diff. So I may as well, go all-out in STX:) Either that or get swarmed by the miatas in CSP and spend more on tires. tough call.

Go figure.. I thought the 3.0 was not until 96.. oh well just proof I don't quite have all my BMW facts even though my dad owns 2 :)
