Hmm, looks like the DOT tires got faster in 2005. Relative to A-Mod almost all the stock classes got harder, however, when you compare the classes that can run race slicks (not DOT) they all got easier realtive to A-Mod, so what we find out is that A-Mod did get faster, but not as fast as the tire tech is developing.

The big "losers" are the STS and STX guys.

A few curious classes are D-Stock and C-Stock. D-Stock got harder (relative to the others) in spite of the fact it is one of the most stable classes out there, with the '97-00 Type R's still being the benchmark.

C-Stock, on the other hand, got easier, and it's also one of the most stable classes. Donnie, Eric and Chris- what are the PAX people trying to say about your driving relative to Telehowski's :) I have full faith that you will prove them wrong!

B-Stock got a substatntial adjustment with the loss of the S-2000, that's my "cherry pick" class for 2005.

All you ST2 folks should be happy with the adjustment they made for you.

Since I run DS, I'll give a few examples for me...

If I run 60 seconds, in 2005, a CS gets an 0.2 second PAX advantage relative to last year, however, STS and STX cars have to run 0.4 and 0.3 seconds FASTER than last year to keep up on PAX.

In the stock classes, D-Stock got the hardest hit, having to run faster relative to everyone else.

DSP suffered a similar fate in the street prepared classes.

DS '03= .795
DS '04= .794
DS '05= .796

So does that mean:
DS '06= .793?

Maybe we should run R compounds next year...

I saw those posted already.

What is interesting to note is that at Nationals, STS is often faster than STX. (I had someone tell me earlier today that on the South course Tom would have been 8th in STS.) :)

What was the weather like at the DC Pro when a STS-prepped Civic beat the Hoppe WRX in STX on the same day same course?

Thank god we are back to talking about stuff like PAX, street tires, etc. I was about to jump off the parking deck if I had to read another post about why we should/shouldn't buy a new bus!! ;)

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

They also made sure to mention that on the North course was the only time both groups ran in the dry. :)

Tom only being 8th would have been due to him running Tues/Wed and STS running Thur/Fri. The amount of rubber laid down makes a huge difference in overall grip. - AB

Now that is something that I didn't know about (i.e. the discrepency on the days); said poster (Corey from STS) neglected to mention that. ;)

I don't know which nationals those guys were at but at this years SCCA solo II nationals in Topeka, STX ran in pouring rain on the North course. There was rain at first and then a T-storm that was so bad they stopped the event for about half an hour between 2nd and 3rd runs.

[flame suit]
Not knowing north from south is a gender issue, NOT dislexia.
