I'm sure I'll miss some folks but here are the highlights....

The surface was even more gritty than Sanford, not easy to drive on, but the course designs were good given the site. There were about 95 drivers. The last group on Sunday made there last two runs in the wet.

State Champions from Tarheel include...

BS - Rick Butters
CS - Donnie Barnes
SM2 - Jim Feinberg driving an B Stock Boxster

Trophy finishers included...
GS - Matt Roush (3rd)
CSP - Les Davis (2nd) - Les almost won. He drove great and was leading after Day #1, fell short by about a tenth.
CSP- Eric Peterson (3rd)

Also running well at the event were Matt (ESP BMW), Mitchell Moore, Brian Whalen, Kenny Keel, and Chris Peterson.

I'm sure I forgot someone, so please feel free to fill in where I made mistakes. Also, downtown Greenville is actually one of the nicest downtown areas I've been to. We had dinner down there twice and a big Tarheel group on Saturday night which was a lot of fun.

Eric

Yeah, where the Hell was Aaron? Did he silence Matt & Heyward, or did he get smoked?

My understanding is that most of the smack talkers stayed home.

Scott Sawyer won a very tough class by a fair bit. Heyward was 2nd I think. Matt Nicholson also drove well...I think back by about 1 second total for the event. I believe Scott also won the Challenge competition they held, which was in the rain. He drove really well all weekend.

Mike Winn won STX in the former Hoppe-mobile. Full results are on the CCR website.

I was first loser in DSP to Mr. Carpenter. It's sort of humbling to beat by a GS car...

Matt's third run on Saturday was a thing of beauty. It's hard to imagine a better run in that car. STS was probably the most competitive class at the event. Scott was basically matching Carpenter's times on the street tires (which if carpenter was running the the right class were #1 PAX).

The NCAC organizatinal meeting for 2005 was held after the event on Saturday afternoon. Jim Feinburg served as the Tarheel rep. The group decided unanimously to continue the single event two-day format for at least another year and give it a serious try in 2005. Triad volunteered to host it at (most likely) Greensboro Coliseum in late summer. The most likely date would be very late July or early August.

It was nice to see some other Tarheel folks from there and know that at least some of you feel my pain on the driving distance.

Class Results: http://www.ccrsolo2.org/forms/ncac2004/ncac2004_fin.htm

PAX Results: http://www.ccrsolo2.org/forms/ncac2004/ncac2004_pax.htm

RAW Results: http://www.ccrsolo2.org/forms/ncac2004/ncac2004_raw.htm

Robert Carpenter also won the bonus challenge round money so he took home $40 extra.

I ended up at #5 in PAX which is good considering. :)

Matt Nicholson's comment on Scott Sawyer on Sunday was that "He was on fire." He really laid it down, although I wasn't watching when he did his runs; only saw the times later.
