In a FWD car with an open Diff is it best to still modulate out inside wheelspin when cornering. Or is it better to go ahead and plant it and get the revs up for when you aren't cornering and have grip. Keep in mind I'm not talking about blue smoke trailing from the wheel. I ussually keep it right at the point before it spins to avoid getting to much push. In some corners of increasing radius it doesn't matter how much push I get, I can still steer and make the gates but I can also pick up alot of wheelspin at the same time. For instance: At VMP a month or so ago VMSC did an event where before the finish there was an odd shaped circle you went through and at the exit where you crosses back over the entry to the circle the lines opened way up. I was middle to top of second gear and going fast enough to not upset the car with the throttle. I could easily steer through the following gates but accelerating was much of a problem as traction was limited.

As muc throttle as possible without billowing blue smoke. A little extra slippage on the inside tire isn't going to kill you, excess slippage (and smoke) isn't even that slow, but it is hard on the equipment.

Just a FYI, the Celica GTS with 2 degrees of negative camber sill wears out the insides of the tires faster than the outsides. All due to front wheel spin.

peer to peer if i had an opinion i would suggest left foot braking and a closed diff........

rallycrossing a fwd toyota on dirt with open front end. meant that flooring it resulted with lotsa wheelspin on one wheel, and little forward momentum. 8)

if the front wheel is spinning, back out of it... Our old toyota and my nissan, if the wheels are burning you are giving it too much gas, let off and you will push less and hook up better, and actually go faster. The front of my wrx is open too. You should hear those tires go when I get on her hard.
