I got lucky, for I felt like portions of the course I drove well, but never drove an entire run well.

As to Shawn's comment, it is interesting that 70% of the top 10 pax is Tarheel, although I don't see that as elitist ;) I think we have some pretty darn good drivers. :)

As far as this event went, other than the lack of porta-johns, I was impressed with how Triad is running their events now. - AB

I'll add a couple of comments to the course design at Danville since I was one of those involved in setting it up.

I agree the section right after the start was too tight. If we had had a chance to pre-run the course I am sure we would have opened these two gates up to make the turns less abrupt. But, since the Big Yellow Van didn't show up on Saturday according to plan, we were a little rushed on Sunday.

The tight section after the giant 8 cone slalom needed to be tignt because of the pavement transition, big bump and rough. Not a problem for experienced drivers in properly set up cars but you have to plan for the new kid in his new Mustang being stupid. Someone sideways at 50 mph catching a wheel would end the day pretty quick. What I wanted to see was cars going straight and accelerating over this pavement change. Overall, I have seen some good improvements this year in the Triad events.

Tarheel drivers did very well at this event, as I would expect, that is one of the reasons I joined your club, competition breeds improvement!

See you in Laurinburg

You've got a yellow car that automatically gets you into the "in" crowd.

Of course that is the ONLY reason I decided on yellow! I can't wait until next season to compete with it.

Congrats to all of the top Tarheel drivers. Sorry I couldn't represent the club better! Maybe we can begin to remedy that on Saturday! :D

Your comments on the course setup does shed some light on the why the course was setup the way it was. Makes more sense now.

I have to admit that when I was originally walking the course I noticed that it hadn't been marked yet and I almost kicked the cones in that first tight section out a bit. But I resisted the temptation, if it would have been a Tarheel event I would have done it but since I was a guest I figured I better behave myself.

I remember walking the course at a VMSC event with Roberts, Newhart and Piccone and watching them make slight modifications to the course with their feet :) It was similar to learning to stomp a rugby opponent with my cleats. Scary and enlightening :o

Hey, I recall a certain THSCC member nudging all the cones in a slalom during a course walk in Laurens, SC - made it an offset slalom while keeping the cones in the boxes. Not sure if they stayed that way, but it sure was funny.

First time I had seen that kind of Tom-foolery.
