anyone here going to this?.. is there a better way to get to danville from raliegh other than the directions they have of 40 to 29? How are their events usually set up? (# runs, good courses? etc..)

Triad's courses aren't very technical. Don't expect to even see a slalom. Also they start late, nearly noon at the last event I attended this year in Danville IIRC. We all got four runs except me. I got 3.5 because the last half of my third run was obscured by the Talon's hood. :(

Hmm, looks to be a good prep for the Laurinburg two-day. I have grrreat directions to the Danville airport, and *all* of the roads are nice and twisty (and is a good route to VIR as well).

I'll get them out shortly.

Getting the blue car changed over from rallyx to autox setup this week, and I think I may go up there for some test & tune.

Does nobody pre-register for their events? Because I'm only one of (iirc) 16 who have, so far... :?

The prereg just assures you of holding your number, you'll have to register at the event as well. They don't cap their events so not many bother to prereg.

Take I-40 west, past Chapel Hill and Hillsborough to the I-85 intersection. Take the Efland exit, the 2nd exit after the merge. Cross over the RR tracks, then take a left. The road, Efland-Cedar Grove Road, takes a 90 degree right, and about 12 miles of fun later meets up with I-86. Twelve miles later, at the BP station (IIRC), take a right onto SR 62 which takes you to Milton. This road is more fun than Efland-Cedar Grove, but watch out for the Amish using horse-and-buggy. No lie. This deadends in Milton; take a left and you'll cross the Dan River or take a right and head to VIR. If you take a left to go to the Danville Airport, go about 6 miles then turn left at the light onto Route 58, the airport is about five miles away.

I can make it from Cary to Milton in about an hour going this way, shaving 20 minutes from going through the downtown Hillsborough stuff (sorry Eric).

If we go I will go up 501 to Roxboro to 57 which turns into 62 at Milton to 58/360 in VA. If you come up behind a slow white camper van with a yellow formula car on a trailer behind it, flash your lights and I'll let you by ASAP.

Aaron,

I am going to Charlotte for the weekend, and I am thinking of going to the Danville auto-x on Sunday on my way back to Raleigh. What is the best route from Charlotte?

Thanks,

Charlie

Charlie, I wish I could help, but I'll be in Raleigh to make the trip from there. :)

I've never made the trip since I moved to Charlotte, so I'm of no help :( Sorry... - AB

It's easy and fast from Charlotte but not very fun. Just take 85 to GSO then 29 North from there. I've done it in 2.5 hours before.

From Charlotte I would go I-85 N to Greensboro. Soon after the merge with I 40 take US 29 N and that will take you to Danville.

I see I was composing while Keven was posting :)

Thanks for the info guys. Hopefully, I'll see you there. Oh yeah, what time are you trying to be there?
