It's been fun running with Chris, Adam and Richard (et al) all season, and I was planning on going out one last time in the grocery getter at Sanford last weekend, but now that the Laurinburg school and autox two day is coming up, I'm planning on running the Miata from here on out.

Good luck guys, I'm going to have fun on sticky tires.

I will be joining you on sticky tires at some point Wes. Just don't know when. :)

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Might as well use this as the "what are you planning for next season" thread.

I'm pretty tired of running stock and on street tires (I'm a bit tired of the same old car too, but I think it's here to stay). The current plan is to run DSP, might as well move on to the top 10 RAW list.

As a minimum for next season I hope to have a rear bar, new coilovers and some sticky tires. A LSD would be really nice too, but will be slightly lower on the priority list.

Scott

I've got some ECU tuning to do, get used to the seats in the car and adjust the mounts on them, lower the car another 1" or so, and just drive the hell out of it. Next year, I plan on just adding oil, gas, and tires as my only changes to it.

If after next year I can't make the car competitive, then a diff. will go in and STX will be my playing ground. - AB

I will be either...

running STS with the blue car

running STS with the silver car

running GS with the silver car on STS tires

running GS with the silver car on R compounds

running DSP or SM with the blue car on R compounds

running AS or ESP (or BSP?) in a 2005 STi

running some other class with some other car - possibly a co-drive in something capable of top 5 raw

(as Mike Winn says, I may or may not be indecisive)

One definite - I'll be rallyxing & time trialing in the blue RS. (unless I change my mind)

Richard and Wes welcome to the crack hit known as race tires! At least both of you should get to run the cheaper/smaller sizes. I have purchased my last set of 255/40/17 R's, THANK GOD!

Im a bit nervous about next year, Im going to a FWD LOW power lightweight car from a AWD HIGH power pig. That should be interesting!

The cool thing is that competition should be great as long as I can talk Rice out of the motor swap on his CRX! Everybody and their brother has a STS2 car now!!

Looks like DSP may be a big class next year. The SCCA is still talking about bumping the 914 from CSP to DSP, so you might add me to that list as well.

Today I started shopping for a 99 Miata sport package. If anyone knows of one for sale, let me know :)

PS - For sale - 1993 Miata Limited Edition, 93k miles. Just gauging interest right now, price will likely be <$5000

Mike <- enjoys automotive indecision :)

We are awaiting on the reclassing decisions to be made as well as the classing on the 05s before finalizing our plans. Right now we are leaning towards staying with the Celica in GS, but making it a trailer queen. If the SEB stacks the deck against the Celi next season then we might just unretire the Miata, or decide to go in a different direction entirely. Guess it will be a surprise when it rolls out of the trailer next season.

It would prolly be easier and cheaper to find an unmolested 99 PEP or base/touring model and convert it to a sport. A sport pkg, unless you just luck across one owned by a non-racer who doesn't know what they have will be at a shocking price (no pun intended). You'll be changing almost everything that matters anyways.

90 percent liklihood that I'll be in STS2 in the new-to-me but far-from-new 1990 CRX Si. It needs some reconditioning but nothing too awful. The chance of me doing a motor swap for something VTEC is pretty low...thats expensive. I've already got an expensive VTEC powered car, not much need for two.

I'll probably time trial the car in CSP. All those wheels I've got from the Integra, the ones with the Hoosiers on them, should fit this car quite nicely...

Whitney, you'd be proud. I have a spreadsheet.

I think you can find a '99 sport for a good price, but the need to be patient is required. The deal Donnie got on Steve's car was awesome.

Converting a car to a sport package would be easy enough would be a pain in the arse, but is feasible.

Mike, are you planning on autocrossing, tracking, or just a pleasure car? If no race type stuff is being done, buy a PEP or base model and upgrade as necessary. - AB

I'm pretty sure this is an example:

Another one, but high mileage. Decent price, esp. considering the engines are about bulletproof:

Well Kevin has me beat on indecision but I will:

--Rallycross anything I can afford to fix
--Navigate at any rally I can afford to attend
--Go to at least one track day
--Autocross in:

FSP maybe (there's a lot of VW people remotivated for Pros now that Geoff did so well at nats.)

SM maybe (if I keep the Legacy and don't change the exhaust to something a bit more sane)

STX maybe (if I keep the Legacy and swap over to the WRX exhaust)

STS maybe (if I keep the Legacy and find a stock cat)

Co-drive with Mike Winn in STX (in a certain WRX that's not silver...)

If I buy something else, who knows!

--Kevin H.
