Sorry folks (or at least the 46% of you who actually want to run) -

It looks like it will be miserable for at least a good chunk of the day today and tomorrow, so we're cancelling the event. The forecasts are too unpredicatable, but there would almost certainly be squalls strong enough to force us to shut down the event for periods of time. That's no good.

We're going to try to reschedule. I'll let everyone know more when we know more. For those of you who paypaled - I am not sure how we're going to handle it. I will ask our Registrar to get in contact with you.

Please forward this information to anyone else who may not have access to
email today.

Thanks!

Mike, Phil, Rob, and the rest of the THSCC staff

Bummer! I was really hoping to run, but I fully understand and agree with your decision, Mike. Looks like Ivan's going to hang around NC for awhile.

Based on the winds I felt at lunch time I think this was a great decision. I would not want to be driving the bus (sail) to Sanford right now.

There's also the tornato activity associated with the rain bands - another reason not to be out setting up. I remember when were were setting up in Laurinburg when a squal cam through (took out a porta-jon even). Turns out there was a tornado in Maxton at the time - it wasn't fun in Laurinburg either...

Good move Mike, even if it ends up being 75 degrees and sunny tomorrow (and yes Adam Ligon, I did indeed have an M3 to codrive  ). During lunch today it went from sunny to raining sideways to black sky to sunny again, all in a little over an hour. Not for me.

So everyone who was pre-registered gets nine points towards season totals, right? I mean, it was going to be my weekend to spank a white Porsche, I just know it was . . .

I was ready for it Gordon, I got a nice set of rain tire, Toyo RA1 full tread
re-groove deeper on the inside shoulder. So I don't think you will have be in front.

That Dishman Cup looks good on my trophy shelf, Patrice. So if you wouldn't mind running those full depth Toyos at the next sunny event, it would be much appreciated! :)

Phil

You just reminded me of that trophy. Is it counted like the season point where you can drop some events? At the moment if we drop one event I'm ahead by 1 point, 37 to 36, so it's very close.
For tire I was planning to scrub in a new set at the Laurinburg event before going to Road Atlanta end of October. So, you are giving me one more reason to have new tire at the Laurinburg event. And if it rain i will be ready also.

Yes, it's a "drop 1" format so you are ahead by 1 point. And you're going to have new wet and dry tires at the next event. I may have to dial in some more camber in the front to see if I can find some more grip!

…. bite tongue…. do not say anything about drop dead gorgeous Sunday…..

OK, any word on when we plan to reschedule this past weekend’s event? This may have actually been a good thing to postpone. Found I need new control arms on the bimmer. When do we plan to post an alt weekend or is this considered canceled and no make ups will be scheduled?

Just curious….

You could pretend the rallycross this coming Saturday is a makeup event - I bet you'd be pretty good at it, too, considering the amount of drifting you do on autox courses...

Rallycross is cool and all, but I'm going to stick to autocross only. Not enough thrill for the $ for me with rallycross, on top of the lack of even competition due to course dependency. - AB

For those of you who used Paypal for the cancelled event, I will carry the list to the last 3 autocrosses. You can use this payment for one of the last 3 autocrosses. If you prefer to get your money back, please send me a pm and I will refund your $20 minus the $1 processing fee.
