Just curious what some people in THSCC have used to determine what makes them ready for PRO.

Is it that you are dominating your class, so you go PRO to give others a chance? Are you going to do national events, so you go to the PRO class? Is your car <90% prepared for your class, so you go PRO? Your times are competitive with other people locally in PRO, so you step up?

I am just curious as what people have used for their measuring sticks. I know I am still a good amount off PRO times for my class and I have LOTS to learn.. but I was wondering how others made your decisions (especially with the amount of people locally we have going to Nationals).

Thanks for any insight!

When youre hot shit, kind of like Eric Peterson, you can go to Pro class.

I don't think there are any set criteria. A novice could run pro class if they wanted too (but why?). For most of us, we are running pro class because we think we are hot shit and feel that the rest of the club needs to be protected from us :)

Pro class is also there for the periodic appearance by a national level competitor. It allows them to compete against the best we have to offer, and also lets them step in and no spoil any of the local points battles.

As for me; I decided that I had too many trophies, and running Pro class has seemed to solve that problem.

Hey, that's what I was thinking!

j/k - I'm running PRO class because the guys who were running close to me in STS last year either stopped coming to events (Tim Peele, Matt Nicholson), or moved to PRO class (Aaron Buckley). - And because everybody told me last year that I should be in PRO class anyway, since I was stomping their asses all year in 2003. 8)

I plan to move to a different class next year, but I don't know what it is yet.

Heh... I need a "Protect Me from Tom and Miranda" class at the Subaru Challenge :).

Cool, thanks for all the replies. With the waining STX class with Les moving onto a Miata, I was just tossing around the thought of finally getting my car closer to a full STX prep in the 'off season'.

After all, if I can ever catch Tom, I would just retire and take the belt with me :) It's great having so many good drivers in the club as it always gives me something to push to do and improve on.

Thanks to all of you who have made my first year autoXing so enjoyable and thanks for all the sage like advice along the way.

All of my past wins I dedicate to the great Subaru drivers who helped me. Hopefully, I can take the challenge of Keith on next year and give a good Subaru/BMW battle next year :).
