Calling all experienced (1+ year) autocrossers - sign up for VIR Patriot! September 10-12.

http://www.thscc.com/timetrial/events/vir_patriot.htm

You have no idea how much fun you will have on this track. Plenty of spots are still available, and remember the event is set up with a lot of flexibility - one day or 2, with or without an instructor.

If you have never been on track before but have a lot of autocross experience, please sign up with an instructor for at least the first day - there is still a lot of track etiquette/flags/rules and procedures to be learned. If you've been to a few track events and been signed off before, you're OK to solo all weekend.

There will only be 10 cars per group, so trains and traffic should be light.

Cars only need the TT safety equipment to run in the TT at the end of the day. Convertibles require rollbars and harnesses.

If y'all have any concerns or questions please ask them here, we (the track guys) will try as best we can to answer them!

So, why aren't you signing up?
Mike

Hmm. . .

So how do I continue my poor campaign in ES, but still get harnesses in my car for track events?

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

If safety equipment is installed per the rulebook, it's all 100% legal for stock class! I had a bar and harnesses in my 325 back when it was a GS car.

I don't have the specific references in front of me, but I could find it if needed.

The rollbar requirements must meet the current GCR requirements in order to be legal for SCCA Solo2. Harnesses in a softop without a rollbar are illegal by Solo2 rules as well, that's why a lot of Miata/Spyder drivers have a lap belt only setup. 5 point Harnesses are allowed in hardtop cars, but it's not a recommended deal if the car were to flip. - AB

Arrrggghhh. So tempting. Is an MA rated helmet good enough?

I'd be all over this, but like so many others I'm off to Nationals. :(

I believe that m95 or sa95 is still the minimum requirement.

Okay, reading the tech guide (as I whould have in the first place) I found this:
Quote:
No additional safety equipment is required to participate in the HPDE other than the use of a SNELL M95 or SA95 rated (minimum) helmet.

For anyone interested. Thanks for the offer Brian!

I heard some mention of online registration, but all I can find is a PDF form or online registration for CMP. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Mike

Mike,

Online registration is currently only offered for our school at CMP in October. The September school at VIR still has to be done the old fashioned way. :)

PDF, Printer, Snail Mail.
