I haven't noticed anyone running STS2 yet and was curious to know if anyone has plans to run this class. I plan to pick up a 91 miata this weekend and would like to set it up for STS2. Will most likely start with just some larger than stock wheels initially and plan some new shocks or maybe GC coilover kit a little later. Anyone with 90-97 miata or CRX may want to check this class out :D

I'll co-drive your car in ST2 if you don't want to get bumped. In fact, if we manage to get Sally to drive and like the car, we can run 3 drivers and I'll tow it to all the events for ya.

I am surprised by the low turn out of this class. In DC there were only two cars and there is only one this weekend in Toledo.

I thought about moving to STS2. It is a bit risky to invest the time and money in a provisional class with low participation.

I think STS2 will be a great class with every bit as high participation at all levels as STS. It was just introduced too late (and quietly) this season for many people to be running it yet.

Plus the early questions about displacement limits probably put off a few people.

I'm planning on setting my Miata up for STS2. But I won't be racing it until next year. Got some work to do before it is ready.

Gonna pick it up this weekend!!! :cheer:

Todd, glad to hear you'll be joining me in the class. Don't feel like you need to have it fully prepped before you run it. I doubt anyone will have a fully prepped car until next year. :) What year miata are you getting and what are your plans for where to start as far as prep?

Scott, Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind :D Aaron has also shown some interest in doing some co-driving.

It is a 1992 Sunburst. (Yea, I know, I just have a thing for yellow sports cars!) I'm buying it off my brother.

First thing on the list is to get the old ragged out BEGI turbo off and a header of somekind in its place. After that will be some kind of intake. He already has done some suspension work to the car. Thta might just need to be sorted out some. Other than that, there isn't much I want to do.

I found an 89 CRX Si yesterday, Im gonna try an talk to the guy about it today. I have wanted another CRX for some time, I had a HF in High School and loved that car to death. However, one night I taught it a new trick, roll over and play dead :(

I think STS2 would be a BLAST! It keeps the costs down, and still lets you tweak the car. Its DAMN sure got to be cheaper than running my DSM! SCCA really dropped the ball in releasing the class soooo late in the year, I think thats a big reason why attendence is low.

Ryan, I have thought about doing that in that very same (type) car. Hmmm, sounds like fun to me, and that gives me the option for a car that I don't mind taking to the track as well.

I think the crx will be very competitive in this class and as a bonus you can fit lots of stuff in the hatchback if needed :D I plan to drive to and from events on same tires used to race, but if you plan on changing tires it sure would be nice to have that hatchback :)

Got to love the hatchback....I don't think the CRX is quite as big, but I can fit 8 tires, an air tank, folding chairs, a jack, a cooler, and a big rubbermaid bin with all my other supplies in the back of the Integra and while still having room for a passenger in front.

Yeah I think the CRX will be a blast to run in STS2. I have the same plan as you Dan. Drive to the event on the tires I am gonna race on.

Well I went and looked at the car upclose today. According to the shop owner, the guy brought it by and the mechanic told him it needed a new motor. The guy doesnt want to mess with it any more, so it has sat at the garage for awhile. The garage owner wants it GONE!

It is an 5spd Si (very important). The car has 186k on the odometer. The engine looks unmolested (ie- no rice boy hop up stuff). The rear quater panels have a little bit of rust on each side (very common for CRX's). The interior is is REAL good shape, the seats arent torn, all the trim panels are there and the carpet looks nice. It has 4 different rims on it.

I offered him $200 for it, he said he would get in touch with the owner and see what he said. Hell for $200, if its a complete POS, I can part it out and get my $$ back (the seats are worth ~$75 alone).

So, STS2 may be CROWED next year! :)

Ryan
