Great event! Mike and Chris set up an awesome course that really got down to the basics of aoutcrossing, looking ahead, slow in and fast out. The organization was top-notch for our first full visit to a new site.

I really like the Rockingham site.

Yep, great course - lots to fun & plenty of places to screw yourself. Really had to keep thinking to run fast times.

I would like the site a whole lot more without the greasy areas, but it does keep you on your toes, I guess. And this site will be a good place to figure out how to tune my car to make it turn when all it wants to do is push. :?

The bracket racing was a lot of fun, too - I only did one run the whole night, but I got a lot of pictures that will soon be posted. Stay tuned...

Nothing like losing to Kevin Allen twice in the same weekend ... :(

Ditto for me. Great job everybody. I really enjoyed the course even in the morning when I wasn't doing so well. Special kudos to whomever decided to make the launch nice and straight. Us AWD turbo guys really like that. Overall the course flowed nice, was easy to read and look ahead. It showed that patience does pay off in certain areas, and slow in, fast out was the hot ticket. I thought the event chairs made good use of the area we have to work with. I still stand by my previous statement that the sealed asphalt portion of the site is like driving on glass, but it was a challenge.

BTW, if you want to learn something you didn't know, take a course walk with Jim P and ask for his input. There is a reason he's so damn fast in a E-stock car. Thanks Jim.

The event rocked. Like Jim, I went home reminded of what autocross is about. It's a good reminder to me that technical doesn't have to equal painful. Lots of coursed I've driven (and designed...) lately have been very simple to drive and learn because the designer wanted to avoid painful spots--sometimes the spread from a top driver to a novice was only a few seconds.

Much thanks to Chris and Mike again for setting up a great course and a great event!

I really liked the pits setup and the staging was excellent! The course was definately fun and um interesting. It was definately tricky to have to set up for a corner knowing that half of your grip was gonna be gone about 1/2 through the turn due to a surface change. ;)

Oh, and do not mock the crazy GTI power! 17.782 @ 76.77!

It was a very fun event. I want to thank everyone who worked in the bus this weekend. You guys and girls did an excelent job. It was the easiest audit that I have done since I got involved in T&S. Only had to enter a few DNFs, one DNW and change one guy's category from Tire to Nov. VERY easy.

Thanks again.

I have heard similar comments every time I have actively pushed to have a grid audit in place! We need to make this standard practice! Check every car, every time it leaves grid, for the right number and class! Easily within the scope of the grid worker.

After having slept on it, the course was well set up although I never got my head out of my arse to see past the hood. I wouldn't have admitted this yesterday.

Lee gave me some three year old race rubber and believe it or not, I used them on one run! Talk about toast. Note to self, don't take free tires from a competitor again! Just kidding, it was a nice offer and I did get to see the difference between 185/60's and 205/50's. Anyone know what Steve Pierce was running on his?

Driving like crap and having my car crap out on my just before my last run just about did me in. So if I acted like a turd, I apologise. The good news is we made it home without any further problems and Jess actually said she hates just watching and can't wait to get back in the seat! I think she's hooked!

Thanks to all you folks who put it together and packed it up.

p

Lots of fun. The course design was great. I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought it was slippery...And to think, I was blaming it on my 35,000 mile old Potenza RE950's.

You guys think David O'Neil would donate an intercooler for the fastest Saab of the day at the next event? :)

I just wanted to say that I liked the style of the course design. I like courses that give you many potential lines, so you have to figure out what is the fast line vs. how to go fast through the only line available. I am sure that the cone count was low and both as a driver and course worker that is a good thing. :)

I just wish that the site was not so slipperly.
