Autocross #2 on Saturday, April 8th , is hidden from the general public for the next couple of weeks to give members an opportunity to sign up early before the event fills. Now that I have gotten your attention, in order to run these fine events, we need to have event chairs. Our club is a little different than most in that the event chairs are often old timers with tons of experience at setting up courses, but we highly encourage chairs to be folks that are relatively new to autocross. This is one of our primary methods to bring new blood with new ideas into the club. We also encourage people who want to be event chairs to find someone to co-chair with them. You can co-chair with someone with lots of experience or someone with similar experience to yourself. Don't be shy, on setup day, there will be experienced people along with club officers, who will work with you. This is a learning experience.

To be an event chair you have to do the following:
1. Create an event and trophy magnet. Submit it to autocross VP's 2 weeks before the event.
2. Design the course. There are resources on the web and books available. Don't forget other members.
3. Show up the day before the event to set up the course. The GM will set a time.
3. Set up the worker stations with flags, fire extinguishers, and etc on the day of the event.
4. Help the GM run the even.

For your efforts you will receive:
1. Free entry to the event for you and your co-chair.
2. A comp'd hotel room if the event is not in RTP.
3. This is your worker assignment, no shagging cones on event day.
3. Fun, we all enjoy doing this and setup day can be more fun than the event.

Can someone post who is already signed up for en event chair?
I am interested in chairing an event and would actually prefer to do a two day event, like one in May.

This is the event chair and GM list as of 1/20/2017. There is plenty of time to sign up as we have booked chairs through May. You can always get in touch with the AutoX VP's, Brice, Mike, and Rob at autocross@thscc.com. We would be happy to discuss which events are open for chairs.

the calendar and MSR are showing the 8/20 now.

Yes. The date is the 20th, due to availability at VMP.

Registration for VMP will be open by 8:00 PM on May 23rd. We are still looking for Event Chairs for Autocross 6 at NCCAR on July 8th and Autocross 7 at VMP on August 20th. Since those events will be outside of the Triangle a room will be comp'd for the chairs as well as free admission to the event and you won't have to shag cones. The setup is on the day before the event. We have a fun time and you get design your perfect course. You also get to show your artistic talent by designing the event magnet.
