To get accurate results, the 1Ghz GPS antenna in your iphone won't cut it. I prefer a wired unit like the Ultimate GPS unit. - AB

Yep, get the wired version. The bluetooth connection on these GPS pucks can be rated as flaky at best.

Thanks, I'll look at that. I'm just playing around now so i'm not that concerned about accuracy but next year I'll probably want something more accurate.

Thanks
Rob

It's not about accuracy, 1hz doesn't have any usable resolution for motorsports. 10hz is still marginal but good enough for us schlubs.

For autocross the default answer recently has been solostorm from Petrel data systems.

https://www.petreldata.com/?v=7516fd43adaa

For a little more than the price of a top shelf GoPro you can get this and a cheap knockoff camera and be in a great position for solid data analysis. Their cloud and forum offerings have really increased the value proposition. Very well received by those who use it

Wow, I'm not hardcore enough for that price tag. I unfortunately can't watch more than 30 seconds of anyone's track/autocross videos before I get nauseous, so I doubt I will be recording any video anyway.

Cheaper than a GoPro hero5 black, and it provides actual useful information!

Yeah I haven't bought one yet because I still need help with basic fundamentals that I don't need data to help improve--I need seat time. It is literally a "must have" if one wants to be doing Tour events with a team of codrivers.

If you already have an android tablet or phone then you don't need the full package so that helps the price
