We have a potential lead on a local site, but it would be a bit pricier than you would typically expect for a lot that isn't that large. However, the idea of running an autocross in Cary is EXTREMELY attractive to me.

Potentially targeting November 8th.

Absolutely. Thank you so much for keeping the search going! Hopefully it works out!

Edited to add that saving 7-8 gal of gas for a round trip to Danville makes it a no brainier. What is the break even for attendance at $40 per driver?

Can it handle a 2 lap course to increase the time per run but still maintain overlap?

I voted "yes" already and hope the site is big enough to be pony car friendly since I live in Raleigh. :D

Sounds like a candidate for a night series.

Funny... I have no idea where this is, but the short course length reminded me of the RBC night series. I have a few videos I need to post on YouTube from a 2002 night series event. My times were 37-40 seconds in a pretty tight course. I also have videos from seven runs (not "fun" runs) at a single event.

I voted yes. I will absolutely do this if it is this close.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

How long were the Greenville courses? They were short & sweet.

6-8 short runs here in the Triangle would be cool.

Have a straight line start through first gear and a good part of second and the courses would be similar to one side of a Pro Solo. Works for me. :D

I liked running at the old Belk's warehouse in Morrisville and that usually required 3 first gear downshifts. A site that is close by and fun is a great combination.

In talks now. The site is the old sears parking lot at Cary Towne Center. Big thanks to Rodney for getting this discussion started. They want a bit more money than I'd like, but they are actually interested in making it happen. We will have to do some things differently (specifically, we may need to set up the morning of the event like we did at VMP, and we will have to have people monitoring the perimeter as a worker assignment), but for the location, I just can't wait to try it out. All those people that you have tried to convince to try autocross that have been hesitant to drive an hour and a half will have no excuse.

I hate to talk too much about it for fear of jinxing it, but man this would be great. Targeting November 8th for a date right now.

Would worker vests and "CAUTION" tape help with perimeter security? I know that when we went there for the kid's swim team league championship at TAC there was overflow parking in that area, so I can see the need to keep things roped off.

Thanks again to those who got the ball rolling!

Are we expected to handle cars parked in that lot? Does the club need to buy (borrow) some jacks and dollies?
