I didn't see a posting for the upcoming NCAC that we are chairing, so I wanted to start a thread on it. I understand this will be held at Z-Max, which I'm not a huge fan of, but understand the need for space. Too bad we couldn't get NCCAR, that would have rocked...

So to start, when is this being held?

If I heard right, this will also be separate points events for THSCC. I'm also assuming we have some good designers lined up to layout the course. I get a feeling from some of the other clubs they aren't a fan of how we lay out our courses.

In regard to swag and assuming we are going to have t-shirts, trophies and such, I'm assuming we have someone designing that stuff now.

Depending on the timing of the event, being that I live in the Charlotte area, I'd co-chair with someone and do some course design. For 2016, I'm going to get back into autocross pretty seriously again. I'm flying to Nationals this year to run E Street with my old co-driver in his '99 10AE Miata. - AB

Rob K and Steve S are our event co-chairs. They designed a great course for Jimmy V's sunday event.

The event is October 3rd and 4th.

We do not have a designated t-shirt designer yet, and would solicit volunteers.

With regards to comments from other clubs about our course designs, its effectively been 2 people who complained that got blown our of proportion (lets call it the Remchak effect). Some people are just a lot louder online than they are in person.

Our course designs are fine, we got TONS of compliments on the NCCAR course this past weekend as well as the Jimmy V courses. Our event chairs have done a bang up job this year.

It's good to see a change of heart from you and thanks for volunteering your time. We can use your help setting up if you want, but I think during the event is when we need the most experience to keep the herd of cats moving. Sunday is the toughest because we only have 5 hours. I have met once with Steven already, and we'll be drawing up some designs soon. I have 4 or 5 people who have said they'd be willing to go down Friday or stay late Saturday to setup.

An official hotel would be nice. We could book a conference room for early registration. Along the same lines arrangements for a food truck each day from 11-2 would be great. Lunch on site makes it easier for everyone.

Steven Spampinato and I will be doing 2 courses that will recycle portions of the track for day two. I'll make sure to fully exercise the car and have a fair course for all vehicles.

I would really like a batch of new cones, ours look like crap and are covered in Mud. A package of radios would be ideal too. It would really put our best foot forward and we need it anyway. A bus day and proper packing at NCCAR would go a long way to help.

To run the smoothest I think it would be ideal to use people like Aaron or Rodney for key positions during the event. If we can prefill the workers list for T&S, Audit, Grid, etc lets do it soon. We need good attendance from our club this year.

I would say its a mistake to not use NCCAR. Charlotte isn't our site, and it doesn't promote OUR events to do an autocross there. I'm disappointed that we won't be there. The rent is probably cheaper and we'd have more revenue.

Even when not covered in mud, they're "well used". There's one set of newer cones (the ones with the thick black base) that I fish out at every rallyx -- stop mixing them in and we'll stop using them.

I've been meaning to ask Bowie if the club ever filed for a GMRS license -- only individuals can apply these days. That would allow us to use better quality radios than the "walmart blister pack" FRS radios.

I don't have much experience, but will be planning on traveling up on the Friday and would be another warm body to lend a hand.

I've also got a whole bunch of motorola FRS/GMRS radios I can bring with if we're short, even have some PTT headsets. Did have a GMRS license back when I played airsoft, but I can get it renewed in time if we need licensed individuals. I'm not sure if the FCC is issuing them except for personal use these days though.

I don't know how many are needed at something the size of NCAC. The real problem with the THSCC radios is their displays are failing so you cannot tell if the batteries are any good, and the PTT switches are getting questionable, etc.

Do any of the HAMS in the club have an RF power meter? (much easier than sending someone half a mile away to subjectively test each radio)

NCCAR wasn't available for a two day event around that time of year, so it wasn't really an option. I'm not happy it's at Zmax either.

We will need to buy som radios, yes. As for cones, we just need to clean and sort what we have first. We will be scheduling a bus day in late September and need people's participation there for sure. We have had maybe 7-8 people at the last couple of bus days. We need at least a dozen.

I would be suprised if Bowie didn't have one.

I suspect we'll need a few people doing tech as well. Would the site allow for a drive up tech inspection as well? That should make things go a lot smoother and quicker if we make folks come to us instead of doing a roving tech.

Rob I will be there(hopefully with newer tires). You are more than welcome to run with me. I am pretty sure a "tech drive through" would be fine as other clubs have done it as well. I will be driving up Sat am and am wiling to help where I can.

This is at least the second event this season that was scheduled at the same time as a BMWCCA HPDE. Bummer that I will have to miss it.
