FWIW, at CCR''s event there this past weekend we were driving at 11:00 on Sunday, not noon so we may get six hours on Sunday. Confirm with CCR to be certain. One issue to plan for is the Junior Kart class, which has to run alone, without overlap and can be a time sink if things go wacky.

Do we actually have to allow junior karts to run? I think its ridiculous the amount of time they take up. I know I'm in the minority about kids in general (don't care for em, don't want em), but thought I'd see what peoples thoughts were. Would I just be a grumpy old man to not have them run?

Don't forget the wonderful golf ball exposure in the lot. Try to park as close to the grandstand as possible. The driving range right next to the lot doesn't care about their poor netting and won't respond...basically say "sue me" as their response to damage. At least the monster dent from a direct hit on Jackie's car came out with the PDR work.

I'm not a fan either considering the time they take up, but we need to allow for them and plan accordingly.... Remember Brice, these guys hopefully grow up to be autox'ers and track junkies!

As for cones, we just need to clean and sort what we have first. We will be scheduling a bus day in late September and need people's participation there for sure.

Here are a few pics from this weekends event from my course walk, and a few from the small area of the course I worked. We don't need to clean and sort. We'll be throwing this garbage away and getting new cones. It really looks terrible that we have this stuff let alone keep having to use it on courses. The ones covered in rubber and or dirt from rallycross are just as bad. Nobody with a nice car wants to hit cones like this because they destroy the paint. Steven has a few nasty scratches in his front bumper from some he hit at NCCAR that was covered in rallycross mud. People who take pride in their equipment don't want to deal with crap like that. There are tons of these split nasty cones in the trailer. There is no reason to not spend the money on this, it tangibly improves the quality of the event.

Standard Disclaimer: Don't Hit The Cones.

But yes, many of the cones are, indeed, "done". When was the last time cones were purchased?

As I've said, I do my best to keep the "good cones" (black base) off rallyx courses, but I'm rarely the one in the trailer throwing them out.

[Edit] Quick internet (and because it's on my desk, ULINE catalog) search... 18" cones are ~8$ each.

IIRC, Ryan helped us get a deal on cones since he works for a construction company. At retail, they aren't exactly cheap.

If we need new cones, I think getting them in time for NCAC would be a wise choice. It would certainly look good to have nice new clean cones for such a large event and put a positive light on it.

Also, the bus could use a wash but pretty sure I heard there's going to be another bus day before NCAC.

We will indeed do a sort first before purchasing any. That said, I would estimate a VERY high scrap rate, but we can't just assume that all we have is trash, b/c its not.

In general, we need to throw away a LOT of stuff from the bus, but until we sort through what we have, I don't think we should be buying anything extra. Even if we throw away 25% of the cones in the bus, we still have enough to run an event. I'm not opposed to buying stuff, but we need to put in the work first.

There will be TWO bus days upcoming before NCAC. The first will be cone sort and timing equipment work along with radio testing. The second will be a general cleaning of the bus, and will take place AFTER the rallycross in September to assure that we have clean cones and a clean bus. I will be scheduling these shortly, so stay tuned.

It's been 10 years, shouldn't the Rallycross folks have their own stuff by now?

Our own bus? trailer? timers? Might as well be our own club at that rate.

Hmm, sounds like the start of a business plan, though I didn't realize there was enough money in Rallycross to make it work.

NASA RallySport, WRC... it's pretty popular, but sparse. (unless you like driving all over the country)
