Yup, I've been using the pinch welds to lift whenever I've had to jack the car.

Question is, if you run in a class of one is it really winning?

Depends on what you want you want to tell yourself. Ask Andrew about that :D
I think it takes at least 2 competitors in a class for a trophy to be awarded.

I wouldn't worry about new damage. Unless you put a jack on them, or high center the car they'll be fine. The ones on my old NA were pretty mangled.

This... but it does make the entire frame rail a jack poibt according to fm.

The entire framerail that runs below the door sills is a jack point.

From what I have heard over and over (as OP has discovered) using the frame rail on our cars as a jack point will just crush it. The pinch welds on the other hand are strong enough to use (though mine are seeing some wear and tear).

Despite my frame rail being trashed on the passenger side, I still plan to continue not using the frame rail as a jacking point.

I've always used the pinch rail or ramps. Most of the damage is likely from speed bumps...

That being said not all pinch rails are built equal, the ones on the Buick we had just collapsed.
