Whoever is staying at the hotel, Austin Culbertson and myself got a room also, we're up for beers/dinner i'm sure saturday evening if anybody else is.

I'm not familiar with Danville but i'm guessing we can find somewhere.

Odd that there are no comments since the event. Thanks to the event chairs and officers for another good event. In fact, at dinner afterwards, the Triad folks were telling me that this was a well run event, especially as compared to some we've run in the past.

Well.

When pressed, they brought up our old practice of splitting runs across morning and afternoon heats (which I still prefer). Fighting words, nonetheless.

They also said they enjoyed last year's facebook stink.

It was a fun event. That's my first event since Nationals 2012, so I was pretty rusty, but the car was a hoot. 10AE gearing really didn't like beyond the turn around, but the course was fun and challenging. To get out after 5 runs by 3:30pm was great. Thanks to everyone who helped put it together. - AB

Agree w/ Art, well run event. Course made you think. Thanks to everyone for an excellent event and paying off the weather gods....

Turns out I lost what little mojo I had before this event. Currently looking for it. Couldn't find my rhythm at this event. Good news is Jordan is getting oh so close to beating me.

I'd like to add my thanks to everyone that helped set this event up. It was a great weekend, fun, challenging, and very well run.

It really looks like just a few people working extremely hard to provide an event for the rest of us to just show up and play. An impressive effort, thanks.

It's interesting that the triad people thought it was a well run event. With the printer not working it seemed less organized than normal.

Also, did that new printer work out?

Thanks to everyone involved for making this event happen! Well run, as usual.

My only comment on the course is my new car is WIDE and, unfortunately, I don't have a clue where I hit the cone(s) on my 3rd and 4th runs which, of course, had the best scratch times. I also didn't even know I hit a cone on the 3rd run. Kelly was taking movies but unfortunately the cones don't show up. Do we need to be within earshot of the bus in the future?

Thanks again!

Dick

Agreed Alec. In terms of "how well run of an event it was", I thought we screwed up big time (please don't take this as anything but opportunity for improvement, it is not meant to question ANYONES effort as the effort from everyone was SPECTACULAR):

No wireless results (we forgot to set it up), the wireless display wasn't working, we should have set up the FM transmitter since the pits couldn't hear the PA at ALL, worker signups took forever since we didn't have sheets, grid sheets weren't available, first car wasn't off until 10:35 due to this and other issues, we had timing delays that stalled the first run group considerably, we didn't actually KNOW what the launch interval was going to be until about 20 runs in, and audit took a LONG time at the end (again tied to the printer issues). There were valid reasons why all of these occured, but the opportunity for improvement is definitely there.

The course was nice, and the weather was nice, so we had that going for us, but we can do significantly better than this. Let's not pat ourselves on the back too much. We will continue to need more help, particulary come October. We will really need a couple of people to volunteer as "supplemental staff" for that event to make this work right. Our staff worked their ass off, but still had some glitches that we need to make sure we have people ready to step up and fill the holes as needed.

We will need a larger inverter to handle the current draw of that new printer. It puts the inverters into emergency mode and doesn't work.

Really bummed I missed it. Sounds like a great time! At least the weather was cooperative.

If Triad is talking about split run groups, those drivers may not have been to one of our events in 3+ years. We have been doing all at once for a long time! Glad they and other visiting drivers enjoyed the day!

Dick, you could benefit from a rearward facing camera.

Doesn't help during the event with my setup. Plus I didn't use one this time since the new car has "wires" on the inside of the rear window that prevent suction mount from working. I'm trying to decide on whether to mount the pip camera on the outside looking to the rear or to the front to see what the driver is doing with the steering wheel.

Then Change your setup. If you want to know where you are hitting cones, you need to see behind you with a camera, or have a spotter follow you with binoculars. It doesn't have to be permanent, just for one event or the first few runs until you get the feel for the car's edges.

Just trying to help....

I was working the last worker station on the course during heat 3. I remember 2 runs with cones in the previous section (3 coner before the angled 3 coner prior to the finish sweeper) and another run with a cone in the first slalom after the start sweeper. - AB

I thought they were 4k already? The old printer was enough to make 'em unhappy -- and the engine has to be running or they'll just shut off. If we can live with the print quality and speed, I have a dot-matrix printer that could be used.

Also, I thought the FM transmitters were always on? If there's enough speaker wire, put a speaker in the staging area/pit.

(actually several, but I don't think we need a 132col line printer. It's former life was printing telco call records.)

Yeah, we never found a good channel, raised the antenna, etc. for the FM transmitter, nor did we set up the portable stereo box in pit for it.

I honestly haven't looked into the inverters too much, but know that even with the engine running, the printer killed everything. We powered off every accessory other than the printer and it still couldn't make it.
