I didn't pay super close attention to the "rust" on the bus during the bus day, but is it really that bad? Old trucks are pretty well known to have lots of surface rust on the frame and stuff, but long as it's not starting to rust through places, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Lots of trucks running around there a lot more rusty most likely. It seems to run pretty good and appears to be a good fit currently.

A pickup truck would be quite handy at the end of the day for cleaning up, as opposed to having to stuff cones in the back of somebodies car.

I do think the bigger trailer idea would be quite useful, especially if we put in a built in generator of sorts and you could just drop it off and go park the tow vehicle somewhere else.

Bottom line is, the bus is a F450 Chassis, I bet parts are more available than most people think, and there's nothing fancy about the drivetrain, it's a Ford V10 commonly found in lots of Cab Chassis trucks and even F250 and F350s, and I suspect the transmission and rear axle is the same way. It just doesn't really seem on it's last legs to me, seems to run pretty good and isn't that old really.

Of course all this coming from a guy who daily drove a 1985 K10 Chevy pickup from 2003 to 2005 and has done more than his fair share of work on rusty POS's lol. Maybe my standards are a little lower than most, haha.

The bus came from up north so has more than its share of rust underneath. What got the discussion going was the last repair on the fuel tank. Rust complicated what should have been a simple repair. With only 6x,xxx miles I agree it should last us a while longer.

I keep thinking about the transmission shuffle shift the other day. Anyone know if the fluid and filter have ever been changed?

If it's like most autos, probably never has been, lol.

That'd be a question for Chris -- former keeper of the bus. That's on the checklist of yearly maintenance tasks in our shop. When the bus gets inspected, have Blacks change all the fluids. (Blacks Tire on Capitol is the closest place that can legally inspect it.)

What is the status of updating the class results to include all runs with their cone counts?

Thanks!

Dick

Dick, unfortunately we've had several issues that have delayed us fixing these. I think I can get the last of them sorted out tonight. I'll post here when the updated results are online. Sorry for the delay!

The updated results are online.

While the event was underway, AXware was using a class file (containing PAX definitions) from 2014, so any PAX times shared during the event (such as via instant Results, which was conveniently offline due to hangover) would likely have been incorrect. Before we announced results at the end of the day, I reconfigured AXware to use the new 2015 class file and forced it to recalculate all PAX times. Unfortunately, the 2015 class file didn't contain a CAM class (because SCCA broke it up into 3 different classes each with suffixes), so AXware failed silently and calculated CAM class registrations with a 1.0 PAX. Apparently, AXware's class validation is hooked up to import and registration, but not class file changes. Lesson learned. Because of this correction, the results now show Chad and Austin Culbertson taking first and fourth place, respectively, in Novice class. Congrats guys! Also, I'm very verry sorry for this mistake!

I had heard some other people suspected that the results weren't showing their PAX times correctly, so I manually verified a significant subset of the PAX results, and everything looks OK. If you find anything wrong, please let me know.

Thanks for fixing that, I knew I couldn't be THAT slow, haha.

It's not that big a deal to me, but I was a bit surprised when I saw the results and my time was below that of my friends driving the black 335 PAX time, so I figured something didn't calculate right.

Sure did make me feel better to know I did actually place though.

Thanks for the work Carlton - glad it was found out at the first event, and not at the last!

I meant to come to the meeting this month but missed it. Did the printer/inverter issue get solved yet? If not we should make sure we have a stack of raw sheets at the next event.

It wasn't mentioned. I'll have a look at it this weekend at the rallyx (if it isn't rained out.) In the past, the HP has always worked for me -- with the bus running, anyway.

Was the printer working for you at the rally-x? I want to have a better solution than our last event where things got delayed and were generally hard to keep track of.

The HP printer worked as always. (Always start the bus before turning it on.) Maybe the autox laptop needs too much juice??? There's a 1200W inverter in the bus. Maybe a larger one, or second just for a printer?
