Guys!

Back at Piedmont this time on Saturday the 30th of August. We are working now to get the site calendar updated as well as a Facebook Event specifically for this, however, registration is open on MSR: http://msreg.com/THSCC2014POINTS5

We need the following:

-Event Chairs
-Bus Driver
-Registrants

Lets discuss! For those who have been here in the past, do you have anything you did or did not like about the configuration? I will try and dig up some old videos if possible to post for people to check out.

Best,

Great site, and close to the Triangle - bummer this date is another I can't make - this event happens to fall on my anniversary weekend. Hopefully event turnout will be okay, being Labor Day weekend.

I recall the prior event at PDW had a really fun course - lots of good use of the elevation changes. The only negative I recall was a few folks with lowered cars bottoming on the final right turn, which was a 90 degree turn on a hard transition from downhill to flat.

Just curious, have we had two events here so far or just one? I hope to make it out too.

What Keith said. There was the final right turn that led to the finish that many cars bottomed out on so you will want to avoid that.

Here was my video from the last time I was there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNmJMVql6j4

Two spots that I remember as rough was the crest at ~:28 and the right hander at :35. I think I got close to airborne over that crest and I was for sure on the bump stops at the right hander.

That was a weird place to set up.

we had to sweep off most of the area because of chicken wing bones and we tried the best we could with the area.

I drove Jackie's lowered (GC coilovers) zhp at that event, and that right hander at 0:35 resulted in hitting the front air dam/bumper cover into the pavement. :(

Being labor day weekend, I'm not sure I can make this work either.

I will drive the bus.

I will help setup but I don't want to design anything because I've never seen the site in person and I can see via videos there are pavement changes and light poles. Another point is that drifters have used this site I think. Whoever EC's may want to search youtube to see how they setup their passes, may give you some ideas.

I might actually try to make this event as the site is more family friendly. From the first time at the site, I remember that there were concessions, real bathrooms, and a spectating area. The course was small and several people were on the bump stops near the top of the hill by the finish.

I can obviously help with setup, being GM for this event. I plan on driving out there before the event and walking around to get some ideas.

First three ideas:

1) Start at the dragstrip tree.
2) Turn-around cone at end of dragstrip.
3) left turn back up into parking area, reversing prior course direction.

:D

My focus is going to make sure we get as most out of this site as possible, and avoid the few known problem areas as much as possible. I hope to make it down this weekend to take a look since it's so close.

I've updated the Calendar and what not on our website to redirect to the MSR page.

I might be in the minority, but I'd rather see a quality 30-35 second course than a, "we need to make it long," 50 second course that is painful to drive/walk/work.

I agree, always take overlap, pain, gain, etc into account here. It'll end up being good, and I'm glad we're having a more open discussion about what people think about upcoming events, their sites, and layouts.

Thank you guys and keep it coming!

We still need Event Chairs to commit to helping setup Friday midday and saturday morning.

Noah

Is everyone aware that college football season kicks off this same weekend?

And that MY Georgia Southern Eagles are playing NCSU in Raleigh?
