Today, Sunday, at an NCR event at Cherry Point Jim Feinberg collapsed after a run. He was rushed to the hospital very quickly by ambulance. We are very worried about him. We wish him the best and a speedy recovery. If anybody knows how he's doing, can you update us.

I too was there and it was truly scary. I think Jim literally set FTD and within 10 minutes was down. That's just how fast it can hit you.

Jim was transferred by chopper to UNC Hospital Sunday evening which sounds more hopeful than what we feared when the ambulance left the site. "Heat" apparently is a strong possibility but hadn't been confirmed.

Jim turned his two best times just before his collapse so whatever the cause it came on suddenly. Word of warning if it was heat, temperatures per my car's thermometer were in the high 80's so it wasn't "that hot" by our standards. Take care!

That is generally SOP for Coastal Carolina Hospital, stabilize and move to a larger facility. Normally they send patients to Vidant in Greenville but since Jim is from the RDU area, that's probably why he went to UNC according to my wife.

That was by far the hottest mid 80's autocross I have ever been too. My phone said it was 83° when I left the site I would have sworn it was 95°.

It was a bad scene. EMS was on site very quickly and did a great job. Really hope he pulls through.

AGREED!!!! I was surprised that sitting in my car with the engine and A/C running during the break that the outside temp was "only" 88 with a sensor somewhere on the car that normally doesn't read "low".

I just want all of you to know how much I truly appreciate all the help and effort put in to ensure Jim's safety. This has hit home deeply to me and has really brought to life the true meaning of "autocross family". There were many MANY people who went above and beyond to make sure #1 Jim was receiving the absolute best care but down to the silly frivolous little things like loading the Audi on the trailer and getting the entire Rig back to the triangle area last night so that was the least of anyone's worries. When I left Craven Regional Medical Center last night around 7 last night that was one of the longest drives from New Bern to Wilmington I think I have ever had.

Lets all still keep him in our thoughts and prayers. And hug your family and hold them tight.

Thank you to all who helped out on Sunday.

Below is a message that I posted privately to a group on Facebook message, and as a group text. If you would like to be added to the group you can reach me privately on FB, or by texting me at 919-210-3741. Again, please continue sending prayers and positive thoughts for Jim. You know he has the Jimmie V attitude,"Never give up".

We want to thank all of our auto cross family for their continued thoughts and prayers. Jim is comfortable and it's just a waiting game at this point. We would ask that you honor Jim's private nature and not post on social media. We love you all. If there's anyone you'd like to contact privately please do and I can add them to the group.

From Gwen...It is with unbearable sadness that I tell you all that we said our goodbyes and Jim finished his fight this morning at 10:40 AM, surrounded by his closest autocross family members. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. They meant so much.
