Registration is up on Motorsport Reg. Please make sure that if you have someone in mind who would like to participate in the school, let them know that space is limited. We are also offering a special rate for novice's who would like to go to both the school and the event this year. If you would like to participate as an instructor please sign up and remember your entry fee for the Sunday event is waived if you instruct on Saturday.

"Can not" and "may not" are not the same thing Rodney, I'm sure you "can" its just a matter of sacrificing other relationships in your life. ;-)

NOVICES!!!!!

This is your opportunity to learn from experienced autocrossers and get more track time than at any other event. You will get around 20 runs over 2 courses. There will be absolutely no rubber left on your tires. Well, maybe enough to run the event on Sunday.

You will not have the opportunity to receive this kind of training at this price at any event. It fills up so clear your schedules and sign up early. Because we make sure that we keep the instructor/student ratio low we only accept a limited number of entries so don't delay, sign up now and beat the Christmas in June rush.

Here are some of the comments from past students:

"I learned how to drive through the grass from THSCC's Novice School" - Dale Earnhardt Jr
"I would not be where I am today if I had not attended the THSCC Novice School" - Will Power
"Hottest Instructors in racing" - Danica Patrick
"Ich verdanke meine gesamte Rennkarriere zu THSCC Novice Schule" Sebastian Vettel

So make your plans now and come join us

Is there going to be a dedicated slalom course again? I think I would have gotten a lot more out of it last year If I had just run the slalom all day.

Most likely. I agree that the slalom course is a great teacher. It may not be as outwardly helpful as the mini ax course but it forces you to learn early inputs

On the Motorsportreg sign up page this event is listed as:

Tarheel Sports Car Club
Sunday, Jun 29 — Monday, Jun 30, 2014
Crown Coliseum, Fayetteville, NC

That should probably be corrected.

Thanks for pointing that out Turner. The change has been made.

...and aggressively focus on that inside rear tire through the slalom. :D The slalom last year was one cone too short, and earlier in the day we should have had students run two laps through it since a lot of time was lost just allowing one run (i.e. it took more time to grid/launch/line up again/etc than the few seconds one run through the slalom and back took).

Is the school and next day's autox going to be on the front lot at Crown?

This will be in the two curved lots to the north and west of the coliseum.

Thanks Brice. I see the google maps image must have been taken after the autox we held there. I wasn't there for that event, but what was the deal with those lots? Was the pavement crumbling or something?

They aren't quite as nice as the front lot. We pulled some gravel up out of them over the course of the day last time, but we'll try and be good about sweeping anything up this time around so that its less of an issue this time.

Would I be eligible to sign up for the Novice School? While I am in the open classes now, I never got to attend the Novice school last year when I started and would really like to do this.

I did 3 or 4 events before I did the novice school. At the end of the day, it's just a boatload of seat time being able to do the elements over and over again.

tl;dr: yes, we'll take your money :P
