Karl,
Check out the one-way car rental option - shop the various companies on line for best price. I was surprised how cheap it was to rent a car from Hertz one way from RDU to SAV when I bought my M3 in November. I also reserved a car for the trip home, in case the M3 didn't work out. There's no penalty if you don't pick it up, assuming you don't pre-pay.

Keith, THANKS! I'd not checked Hertz. I checked Enterprise, probably because they were at the top of whatever search I used. They wanted like $200 for a one-way rental. I could practically fly for that money. But Hertz looks much more reasonable at the moment.

The orange car has had paintwork done to it, so I've passed for now. I notice that the sales staff there has now added "HARD S Suspension Package" to the listing, after I asked them what it was. I was about to forgive the awful color and go buy it, but at least the sales guy there told me about the paintwork up front. I appreciated that. Clean Carfax, BTW. Those reports don't guarantee anything as far as crash repairs. I know a lot of you know that, but maybe not everyone does.

I've given up trying to find a suspension package car and am instead going to get what I want as a *car* and not as an *autocross tool*.

Sounds like a good move assuming the primary goal is a good car that happens to be a decent autocross car.

It's going to be tough running this event assuming we're back out on track w/ this many people. You KNOW this is a great place to run, so as Steve sez, sign up!

On the other hand, does this mean we might have a good shot at fun runs?

So, with 45-50 drivers how many runs will we have?

Forecast for rain has been greatly diminished. Should be a good day.

Yeah, getting workers to stations quickly was a challenge last time. Will Sam let us use his truck again? If someone has a pickup truck I can do a round of drop off and pickups between each run group.

Do we always run NCCAR events on Saturdays? Just curious.

It's preferred. There's standing orders by NCCAR management of no running from 11-noon on Sundays

That's cool. I was just curious.

Was really, really hoping to have a car of my own for this one, having never run on the big course at NCCAR before. It looks like I'll be purchasing the car Saturday. I guess that's kind of the same thing, right?

Glad you found a contender. Your experience reminds me of my search for the IS300 seven years ago- I drove myself mad hoping to find a low mileage 'design edition' in only black with the slightly higher spring rates, darker 11-spoke wheels, and fancy badges of course.

On the verge of cars.com, autotrader, CL, ebay & forum overload, I just got the standard version, which was 10x easier to find, and never looked back as it wasn't really going to be a serious autocross car anyway.

Gwen, at the first event using the track we got 7 runs with 52 entries, and the second event had 4 runs with 57 signed up but the course was 80 seconds (hate that I missed it). My guess is that the number of runs will be course dependent.

Buy this one today, run it Saturday. The ad has a phone number so maybe you'll actually get a response :)
