I read that the Stock classes are becoming a Street class and no longer assume R-comp tires.

Does this mean that the THSCC is no longer going to run a "Street" class?

Just so your question doesn't confuse anyone and start a shit show, let me rephrase:

"I read that the Stock classes, which allow R compound tires (and require said tire type to be competitive), are going to be no longer and instead a new category will be used called the Street category which is composed of multiple 'letter' demarcated classes where street compound tires are required. With this new category and the absence of the historic Stock category where 'stock' prepped cars can compete on r compounds, how is THSCC going to do it's classing regarding open Street classes vs the THSCC RT/Tire PAX category"

The question is good and we are meeting this week to discuss it. What I can say is we will not be keeping an open 'Stock' class for r compound users. Stock prepped cars on R comps can jump into their *SP classes.

We will update everyone regarding how the Street category will be handled (open per class vs some multi class PAX category) next week.

FYI for those who may not be aware of the details of SCCA's "transition" from R compound to "200TW" tires for "Street (formerly "Stock"):

In 2014 the former "Stock" classes are exactly the same as they were in 2013. Same rules and same cars. Same class letter designations with the addition of "R" after the class letters. I.e. SSR, ASR, FSR, etc. Based on James comment however THSCC will not run R classes at all. Go directly to SP with your Hoosiers.

In 2014 "Stock" is now called "Street". There has been some car/class adjustment. New options with wheel diameter options (can get complicated) and a minimum TW rating of 140 for 2014 but changes to 200 for 2015.

In 2015 only SSR continues. All other "R" classes are gone. "S" classes minimum 200TW tires. Assume that "more than normal" car class changes will happen due to experience in 2014.

Note also that the "independent" (not SCCA created or mandated) PAX index is purposely "tougher" on "Street" in 2014 as part of the learning curve. Of course, THSCC can do whatever we like with any index and any rule. Even SCCA regions can do what they like regionally.

Due to potential limited tire size options in TW200 tires the Street rules allow a Plus or minus 1" wheel diameter change from stock.

There is a PROPOSAL for 2015 to increase the current plus or minus 1/4" (6.35 mm) offset change limit to 7 mm since the wheel industry moved to the metric system for offsets (a long time ago probably) and apparently 7 mm change is common.

There is a new regional class called CAM (Classic American Muscle Cars) which is fairly close to "run what you brung". 200TW tires. The more common name for this type of car preparation is Pro Turning (PT).

Except SSR (forgot to mention that one).

Rob, I thought that it was "Free" for you. You're probably the fastest Z06 driver in the state that doesn't own one. :D
