5% drop on #2 isn't bad.

Good mechanicals and it'll look good? Sounds like you got what you were looking for.

Alright, alright. Spent a grand over the past two days, so the only thing that is really left is just minor BS.

BFG Rivals 225/45R15: $632
Alignment + Corner Balance + new eccentrics install: $364 (2345lbs w/ driver and 4-5 gallons of gas)

Left to do:
- Oil change
- modify fan to clear the sway bar (alternatively: never stop, ever)
- Adjust endlinks
- Attach ducting for the brakes (and modify bumper cover mouth with strategic zipties)
- Weep silently at this month's Amex billing cycle

Heading to the track this weekend, so It was time for an oil change, brake flush and re-torque of all the suspension parts. While I was double checking my Hawk HP+ pads for wear (I only have a half dozen AutoX's on them), I thought: Hmmm wonder how close my 2011 Mustang GT brakes are to fitting?

I happen to have a set on the shelf so I checked them out. 13.22" rotors, two-piston aluminum calipers. And very reasonably priced - I bought this set complete with rotors, calipers, brackets and pads for $125. They were taken off a brand new GT.

Here they are next to the MS6 rotor and my old 6s rotor:

It doesn't look like a very difficult swap. That's just great - another fabrication project. Why can't I leave well enough alone?

Guess what happens to the phenolic pistons in those after some track use? Here are what mine looked like:

The Miata behaved really well on its maiden voyage with NCR down at Cherry Point this past weekend. In a little under a month, I've done:

- Engine oil (Fancy Pennzoil Euro stuff)
- Diff fluid (Redline)
- Trans fluid (Redline)
- Radiator and hoses (Advance Auto specials)
- Brake fluid flush (Valvoline)
- Plugs and wires (NGK)
- Valve cover gasket and CAS Cap gasket (T Hoff)
- New cheap rotors with Car Quest "Red" (a.k.a. Raybestos) ceramic brake pads
- Used Bilsteins from a '99 Sport
- 1 1/8" Racing Beat adjustable FSB with ball joint endlinks
- 4 Dunlop ZIIs, two brand new, two barely used (thanks Eric)
- Alignment
- Both rubber shifter boots, plus a replacement leather shifter boot, because fancy
- Many stages of paint correction
- Detailed engine bay
- Repainted wheel centercaps
- Fixed the clicking clutch pedal linkage
- Homemade Fisher Price My First Magnetic Numbers

Gosh, that's a lot of work in a month, now that I see it all written down. It's turned out to be a really nice little car.

It's worth it, you just have to modify those calipers and use better pistons. You know, with ones made from M-E-T-A-L...like these I had custom machined from 303SS last week:

Winter projects have a way of becoming spring projects. I think this is my list to make NCCAR on Saturday.

Reinstall motor
Replace spark plugs
Change valve cover gasket
Flush brake fluid
Change oil
Change transmission fluid
Change diff fluid
Flush coolant
Roll Fenders
Connect Horn
Bring car for alignment & corner balance & cage touch up
Bed new rotors
