Thanks for trying out the double-pay/double-run scenario yesterday. I agree that it is probably easier to do it with a three-group scenario, but part of the problem yesterday was allowing people to doublepay on site, rather than in advance which would aid in forecasting/controlling worker distribution. Still I hope the club enjoyed the extra $$$ gathered from the extra entries!

I wonder if doing a circuitcross in wet conditions is a wise idea, though. I suspect using the VDA for wet events would be a better way to go.

so here's my 3rd and 4th runs. Man, what a blast to get the bullitt back out on course. My times SUCKED w/ those crappy sumi tires, but I had a blast pushing that car around. I think Jordan had a great time as well, I think rear wheel drive and a little power was fun for him. Next year should be interesting in regard to autox'g. Always cool to have your son co-drive w/ you!!

run 3, this one sucked, but I had a great time!

run 4, my "best" run of the day...

Thanks to everyone that made this happen!!!

Nice event, the Abarth can handle the high speed stuff with no problem, I did quite a lot of 3rd gear. The finish and the fast lane change was done flat out in 3rd and from I was told a top speed of 81mph at the finish. The event didn’t went as smooth as usual but for the 1st time on a track that long it’s quite good. Rob description is right On. If we do an event like this in June when the day light are the longest that will help for sure.
Again, nice event and when is the next one like that?

Thanks to Rob and Noah and Sam True for helping set up the course. It was tricky getting the course set up in the dark. A course that long probably needs more than 2 hours to set up :-) It was funny how much faster the course was in the morning when you could see it.

This is a really fun way to run this venue. We really need to publicize this next year and try to build attendance. I think that even at a higher price it is worth it for the long fast course with 3 cars on course. I have this thought of if we can get enough people running two separate courses. (One can Dream right?)

I wish I had bagged both those sets of tires, the car was extremely pushey. Apparently I hit a cone somewhere.... :(

It was difficult to organize two run groups a long course and relatively few attendees. Add to that the drivers running 8 times sometimes in two cars and it made it challenging. Added to that was a late start to finish set up and you are right it was a little rushed.

We can do the next on a date with longer days. I'm assuming you are volunteering as EC. That damn Abarth is quick, good driving

From the C box to the hairpin was all third gear. I got a 121.4 sec. If the car had any go, it could have been better.

I posted this on the FB group, but I'll throw it here. As I said there, I shudder to think how much roll I'd get in the Filthpig if I had sticky tires. Maybe once I get smooth it won't be as much of a problem.

Thanks everyone for coming out to this event. We have 3-4 lessons learned that we will take back for consideration of next time we do this. I think the double pay, double drive thing was a stop gap measure that turned into a mess in terms of run group logistics and heats. We really needed 70-80 people and 3 run groups for that to work out. Also, most us were not thinking of Day Light Savings and the fact that if normal course walks take 25 minutes that a novice walk will take 45 minutes and the pit being a 10 minute walk away etc etc etc. Lots of novices, while generally a great thing, also slowed things down a bit given the ride along situation. Thanks to The Robs for taking that on.

Anyway 4x80s runs is equivalent to 6x40s runs that we are usually used to at NCCAR so I don't feel too bad about being overly optimistic about number of runs at the driver's meeting :).

It definitely was one of those weird situations where having more drivers would have meant more seat time for everybody, sounds kinda nuts on paper but would probably work due to the logistics of the site. It was a non-points event, so it was the time/place to experiment and learn.

As for the double pay situation, it was somewhat necessary to make the financials work out; however, we now know what's required to make it work. Just off of the top of my head:

1. Minimum of 3 run groups
2. Should be done on site after registration is closed
3. Set up AXWare for some sort of fake class

It wasn't a logistical nightmare, but it'll be better in the future. I am still in the camp of just doing fun runs for extra runs. It's still going to be on a per event basis as to whether or not we could do either, though.

The course was awesome and getting into third gear was a ton of fun. I thought the slow corner with the ditch was a little scary. I came in too hot my first run and ended up sliding wide by a few feet with my outer wheels just touching the grass.

Someone put a pinch cone on the entry to be "V" curve with the hopes of keeping everyone off of the grass. The result was that many went off into the grass on the other side. I asked my son Anders six times, " What's on the other side of the V?" Answer, "A ditch." We never even got close. Obsticles like that are why we take course walks and look ahead when we're driving. Fear makes you remember better. I worried about the gocart a couple of times. He couldn't look that far ahead, the grass is tall.

How come Carlton's final time in STR is faster than any of his individual runs?
