My guess was that SS/FS need about a 4% discount ie a 0.96 multiplier. Dick's data below suggests even that was conservative.

It is going to be a lot more educated/wild guessing for a few years before the kind of historical data is available to Rick that he has had in the past.

Also, the Evo TnT site was a fairly small smooth asphalt site with a lot of sand off line. Nationals was . . . well you know . . . much different.

Thanks for the data Dick. It's unfortunate they didn't retest the Rivals just after finishing the A6 tests, but this is better than nothing of course (especially since it's free to us!). I have a better understanding now of how there is likely a sliding scale of "street tire adjustment multiplier" in the various classes depending on the horsepower (and of course depending on other variables too like RWD, FWD, AWD), and one simple number is clearly not going to be sufficient across the board in any way.

I was thinking in my own case with Rivals. Let's assume I switch to 275/35-18 all around (although I currently have 245/40s). If I compare that to what a few are running on M3s in F-stock, one very competent driver in the St Louis region is using 295/30-18 front and 315/30-18 rear A6s. One almost can't fathom the acceleration grip of an A6 at 315 section width versus a 275 Rival, much less a 245 Rival. Hence that multiplier to equivocate these two setups is really going to depend on pavement/concrete, temperatures, amongst all of the other variables among the various cars in all the classes. This is really a losing proposition to try to come up with some overall "number" that is in any applicable across all cars.

By the way, the E92 M3 almost won F-stock this year at Nationals. It had the fastest time in F-stock on day 2 and was only slightly off the leader's pace on day 1. Perhaps that will spark more interest in the E90/E92 M3 for F-stock competitors so it doesn't continue to be an all-Mustang class.

I noticed that too. I might have to continue looking for an E90 M :).

Were they on East or West on day two? The two courses were very different. East was high speed with a lot of digs. West was pure speed maintenance. (Just to add to your equation.)

The 2008 M3 was faster on the East Course. From FP and CM videos it looked like some of the fastest segments required REALLY good handling to be able to use the speed from the digs. It will be interesting to see what happens on Street tires if the M3's are more balanced and/or can put the power down better than the Mustangs.

Also, the CM run included a LOT of shifts. Some you can see, most upshifts you can hear. Better shifter than the Porsche

I guess I'm all set for 2014. Already bought the Rivals and I can keep using my old magnetics.
