I rna out of tires..Subarus are tire hungry, and running slicks in a sweeper course, we destroyed a tire.We swapped it to rear, lasted the day. I thikn we could have done tomorrow, but we would be pushing our luck, with that one wounded tire. Anyhow, fun, slick, which is right up my alley. Awd is fun, if a little hard on tires. Look for me in the gravel next month, if I limp, it is because I hurt some thing at the TKD tournament the day before.Wish me luck. good stuff.
It feels so odd, to pull onto a base iwth men holding large guns, saying hi and not being mean. That is a very odd feeling. Still not comfortable there, like I should not be there. I dont feel at ease totally, really strange feeling.

Anyone hang around for results? After clearing grid and picking up trash in grid/paddock I left, figuring I had gotten ousted from any trophy spot by any or all of Noah, Carlton and Aaron.

That’s the second time this year that a S2000 is killing the timer, I think we should ban them as they are obviously to unstable….. Joke a part, that SUV yesterday was scary…
It was a nice course my only comment will be that I will have like to have a longer course, with all that space that was wasted behind the grid they could have come up with a much longer course.

Results are up on NCR's website. It was a well fought battle in STR. 2nd-7th place on Sunday covers less than 4/10ths of a second.

Here's my video from Sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2oQkJqyt80

I agree with Patrice. I see a ton of unused runway in that video.

((135 Drivers X 5 runs) / (2 Run Groups)) X (2 Half-day Sessions) = (3.5 Hours of Course Work) + (20 Minutes Grid Time Between Runs) + (5 Hours Travel Time)

This was my first time at an NCR event, and I would echo the gratitude to NCR for sharing their great site with us, but I'm trying to decide whether I would attend one of their events again, given what struck me as a fairly bizarre event format. So, from those of you who have attended multiple events with them, I would love to hear, is it always like that??

A four run group format would've been SO much more civilized--really made me appreciate the design of THSCC and TSCC events. It was a really fun course though--it's not that often that I get to bounce off the rev limiter so much! And the double-cone slalom was a creative twist!

Bart, They are used to lower participation numbers (75-90 drivers) as well as having morning/afternoon sessions, so I suspect they tried to work it out that same way. It was a long day, but I try to go there once (maybe twice) a season because it is such a different (read: awesomer) site than what we have here closer to home, which allows for such open, flowing courses.

I have no idea why they leave that much runway unused, but every time I've been there it has been set up that way. There may be a base requirement they have to heed, and I know how much they want to keep that site and help the SMP.

I can't complain about yet another seventh place finish when it also results in a 12th place PAX. While my position hasn't changed the delta is getting smaller, so I must be getting better right? :stick: At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

Oh, and Carlton gets NO MORE pep talks from me.

+1000

I'll think twice about attending this event in the future considering a 2hr 20min drive if this is the same format next time. Considering all the runway, I think a 70sec course would have been awesome. Working twice sucked, that wasn't needed considering the amount of people there. You had NO down time during the day.

That said, kudos to NCR and THSCC for the co-event, great learning curve. Thanks to all that made this event happen and thinking out of the box.

Ah, so their format is set in advance then, and can't be adjusted after they see how many drivers they have (as we do at our events)--that is an interesting difference... Is there any way to find out in advance what the format will be?

Congrats on your 7th place, Steve--much better than I did! I actually left during the lunch break because I just couldn't get excited about the possibility of another 2 hours of course work in the hottest part of the day, so I forfeited my last three runs.

If it makes you feel better, you only gave up two runs--not three

I am not one to second-guess the registrars but there seemed to be a degree of uncertainty as to how many drivers who registered for both days would show up for Sunday given the rain on Saturday. I think they defaulted to two run groups because they didn't want to be light on workers/cars for a third heat.

On Saturday morning I was making small talk with a few guys from NCR. They have no control over the length. The Marine Core will drop an orange barrier to mark where they can start the course. That barrier marks where it is safe for the spectator stand that goes…..unused. They keep on asking to have it moved back…..they just do not listen to them was the jest of the conversation I had with him.

REal quick...I want to say thank you to Steve Carter, Noah Fleming, and James Short. Thank you for all the in car advice….I almost got that 50 second mark to beat Rodney…but I still love the fact that I scored second place. Overall, NCR did the best they could with the format.

I am sure as this site grows in popularity, they will learn the THSCC way of non stop action. They just underestimated. As long as nothing gets screwed up, I plan to go at least once per season. Overall, everyone had a good time, so I would call it a success. They hosted us in hospitality, and I am grateful. But then again….getting the day one results out of the trash can was not flattering. But @#$% happens!

Looking at the results, the Pax index for the tire class, RT, is different than the one THSCC used. Theirs is softer, anyone know why?

Just an insight as to how THSCC works autocross events in terms of run groups: The minute registration is closed, that's when group assignments happen. Basically the person on the mic going over the event is just filibustering until we have the run/work groups set.

Pros:
- Incredibly flexible

Cons:
- Literally a last minute ordeal

THSCC used to do split run groups, but I think we've moved to all runs at once due to a change in the management and possibly a decrease in numbers. The decrease is somewhat understandable and overblown seeing how we no longer have Sanford, the other side of the story is 155 entries on a 40 second overlap course with average times being in the high 40s. :soap:
