Alright everyone. Our annual V Foundation Charity event is coming up in Fayetteville on July 20th and 21st. After being great about tire marks from launching at the last event, the site owners are ok with us running the East Lot again!

We have raised over $44k over the last 8 years and we want to continue the tradition.

This will be a double-header event, where each day Saturday & Sunday will have its own course and season points. You may choose to run one day (either one) or both for double the opportunity to score season points.

Pricing: $35/per day for everyone (member, prepaid etc). However, if you prepay for both days, you will get entry for $60. Season pass holders will be auto registered for Sunday and will have to pay out of pocket for Saturday (website to be updated soon). Remember, all proceeds will be donated to the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Sunday will feature chicken sandwiches and beverage and chips for ~$6/person. We need volunteer or 2 to do some grilling of hotdogs/burgers on Saturday too! Preferably someone with a Sam's Club or Costco membership :). Likely priced at ~$6/person for 2 dogs or 1 burger plus chips and soda.

We'll have a prize raffle (prizes to be announced as attained but likely certificates/gift cards for autox/rallyx entries, automotive repair/setup certificates from area shops, car/mechanic related tools). Tickets will be $5/each or 5 for $20.

Hotel info:

http://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/ho ... /amenities

This is the Holiday Inn Express that is near the mall (*not* the same one as last year). The group rate is $109 per room which includes hot breakfast in the morning.

There are only ~10 rooms but within a stones throw is a Hampton and Fairfield and this area looks to be a lot less sketchy than the other HIE and has lots of food and beverage options. It's only a few more minutes down All American Expressway (Owen more or less turns into this) than the other HIE.

Note: Reservations must be made by Saturday the 13th for the block rate. Mention Tarheel Sports car club when you book.

I can do the Costco shopping with the only limit being how much I can stuff in the Miata. I have coolers for the burgers/dogs, but no room for the grill

Does this mean the event is worth twice as much as any other points event, or is it still treated as a single event from a point perspective?

It is a single points event. Similar to NCAC or a NT event where it's two courses over two days and the sum of your best times each day is your net score for the points event.

Thanks Jordan. Does anyone have a small portable gas or charcoal grill we could use for Saturday?

I'd be happy to cook. I have a small gas grill that I had purchased for just such an occasion last year....

Don't want to come across as complaining, but that kind of blows for those of us that have season passes - the season pass is supposed to cover the season's 8 points events, but now season pass holders have to pay for and show up at an additional/9th date to get our season points for event #6 (which also happens to be a date I can't make). On the flip side, I understand and can respect the reasons this decision was made - to draw more people for Saturday and run different courses both days to make it more interesting.

We appeased the 1 day vs 2 day concerns last year and as a result got numerous complaints about running 10+ runs on the same course over 2 days. So we're appeasing those complaints this year. Can't win over everyone :). Season pass holders are getting an even bigger discount delta for the 1 day that is covered under the pass too.

Cancer sux!

This is true, but playing devil's advocate  , with so many points event dates being unknown at the start of the season, then continuously adjusted since, the likelihood of being able to actually use one's season pass for the number of events resulting in any discount this season is very low.

True...I am experiencing this, but it feels good to view it as a charitable donation to a worthy bunch of chucklehead car nuts.

All, due to some less than ideal situations at the Holiday Inn Express Bordeaux, we are looking at a different hotel for this years Jimmy V event. I'll be giving a call to the Comfort Inn (just a mile or two farther down Owen) and seeing if we can get a THSCC rate for Friday and Saturday.

In an attempt to appease some of the concerns raised regarding the two-day format, another option would be to have each day be its own points event, making a total of 9 points events for the year. We announced at the beginning of the year that we may have 9 events, however limited site availability means we probably won't unless we split the Jimmy V event.

This would mean people could attend one day (either day) and still collect points, or attend both days and earn twice as many points.

Thoughts? Concerns? Flames? 8)

I'm OK with it either way, especially seeing as I am not in contention for a season points award. I do relish having another chance at playing the spoiler  by sneaking in a reasonably good finish for an event or two, so there's that....

How does the points work at the end of the year? Drop 2 events or 6 events total?
