This weekend was my youngest son's first Autox. I chose this event as it was a two day event with Points event #1 & #2 over the weekend. NCR (as many of you know) has an outstanding venue at Cherry Point in Havelock, NC with tons of open space and it is a very safe place for him to get his feet wet with lots of places to make a mistake and stay safe. After his first run he got lost, stopped on course to ask for directions  and when he finished he was hanging his head afraid that everybody was going to be laughing at him. As I was starting to try and cheer him up my dad came up and told me to let him handle it. We let all of the 3rd run group go and he gave it a go at the end. Got a DNF on his 2nd ever run but when he got back he immediately knew he entered the slalom on the wrong side and was ready to get it right. Went out for his last run of the day (darn lightning!) and cut 60 seconds off to run a clean 72.xx for the day. Day two (reverse course with start and finish different) he really focused on the course walks and was pushing the kart for all it was worth. He got down to a 68.xx over his six runs on Sunday and was loving it! I am pretty sure I have created a monster

Three generations of Byers ran this weekend, this was a cool thing. And we were very proud and excited for Bryon to boot!

He did his one cone on his last and fastest run (gonna post up some video soon) and he got the Cone Killer award because it went about 8 feet in the air
