Fun times today for sure. Thanks Steve, and everybody else, for the opportunity to come play!

I like the site. I know it's small, but I kind of dig the sites where we make two passes. Gives me a chance to admire all of the places where I've screwed up while it's still fresh in my mind. :)

Steven's car was really, really good. He made a small shock change for our last runs, and lo and behold, it was even better. Still not enough though. I picked up a cone on the first, outbound slalom, and I knew I'd done it, so I just said "$%&# it" and went as fast as I felt I could. 46.2, +1. I felt like it was a really good run, too - there weren't any places where I was kicking myself thinking I'd left a lot of time there. Maybe with a perfect planetary alignment I could have gone faster, but I doubt I could have caught James. A 45.5 is borderline unreasonable, great job on that. :)

I'm really enjoying running STR this year. My cone troubles are getting frustrating - it's hard, after a while, to talk myself into saying "well at least the raw time is there." Yep...just like that year in B-Stock when I set the cone on fire in Sanford.

It was so funny doing audit that STR cars and cones seem to go hand in hand.

Glad everyone had fun! I will say that I like the site (evenmoreso with sunshine and 78°) but I will say its a difficult site to design a course.

In respect to course designs for that site, at least I've found w/ the start at the VDA access rode, loop and then finish out on the main straight reduces your overlap because you get the loop part done sooner. I also have say I had some "oh sh!t" concerns when some drivers inadvertently started on the loop a 2nd time and start had just launched another car. We got extremely lucky here and this is something we need to keep in the back of our collective heads when we set up the next course at NCCAR.

That’s was fun yesterday and I kind of like those type of course. That’s the type of course we where having when we where in Quebec in the 80’s. Driving the Abarth reminded me also of the small front drive car I was driving in those year, except she’s having double to power. The Abarth handle good, I was surprised, even with the stock Pirelli
My driving was a bit off yesterday, I was falling behind, I will need to do more AX....

Yes, thanks for a fun course and great event! I am still trying to figure out how James uncorked that monster run...great work!

NCCAR may be small, but it has grip and is nearly billiard table smooth. I like that it makes for a tight technical 45-50 sec course, as it is something different from the faster runway courses. I hit the rev limiter once in first gear, and almost got there in second gear entering the slalom, but never got close after that. (Note to self: lower VTEC engagement point!)

Yeah, seems as if those were only in the first heat. However, in all the events we ran at Greenville, most with a course exactly like this, I can't even remember many 2 loopers in Greenville. :whoknows:

Other things I learned:
-The BK chicken wrap has lots and lots of nasty onions.
-Apparently I have a loud voice (ok, I already knew that)
-Pollen sucks

Ryan you don't give yourself credit. I HATED Greenville. But I thought the course design was fun. Strangely enough especially the cone right after the sweeper leading to the cbox. If u hit it right it wasn't painfull and I could transition it well to keep up momentum.

Nice job

This seems to happen a lot with me (no offense to ECs) but when I walk or see a course, frequently I can say "you know, this doesn't look like it's going to be very fun" but then driving it changes my opinion completely. Yesterday was one of those days.

Despite blowing Jeremy's differential bushings (nasty red silicone fluid leaking everywhere), the car still drove great. A little pushy (we really need to start playing with our dampers more, particularly after the last round of suspension mods....maybe another alignment).

I want to thank all the THSCCers that came out to help with the EV challenge autocross yesterday morning. Things were a little hectic and it seemed that despite being on site at 7am, there was no where near enough time to plan things to get the EV event prepped and allow for a smooth transition into our event.

BTW, that slant nose Pcar EV car's wheel bearing is still haunting me. Has anyone else seen a wheel bearing with ~30 degrees of play in it? Because as of yesterday, I have :).

Thanks

First thing to hit me was how errantly wide I was on entering the sweeper, by probably 5-6ft compared to you. Other than that it's hard to tell since I can't see what speeds you had through certain segments, and with your raised rev limit even that is not reliable. Did you get any data?

No :(. Jeremy has had a b*tch of a time finding an OB2 BT dongle that works....2 have not. Only Noah's has worked for us so far. And he lost his GPS BT device. :(

I saw a lot of people late apexing that pivot cone and I think that was a 'no-no'. Given that the line back to the slalom followed a natural 'push' line, I think a mid corner apex with higher negotiation speed and not hitting the backside of that pivot cone was the way to go and then using the throttle to naturally push out towards the slalom entry.

I think Steve was referring to the far end of the course and him being wide there.

Awesome driving James, the run in the video looks great. I'm amazed at how tight you can be on the far end turn and still get it rotated at the exit like that. The launch, two gates and box are unreal too.

I have the wifi version of this, and it works well. SoloStorm is becoming very popular these days, and if it recommends the PLX BT dongle, it may work for Jeremy's car, too. That is, unless you've tested one already without success.

I know, I was just making a general comment on where I think I made up a lot of time. On my first two runs I late apexed the pivot and probably starting accelerating back to the slalom 5-10 mph slower than on my last 2 runs.

FYI, my last run was a 55.8+1 where the cone was on my first go round in the Cbox and I kind of 'gave up' heading towards the pivot (checking rear view to see if I hit it) and then picked up the pace again. In hindsight, I wish I would have just continued the run as usual because I think I could have had a high 44.xx scratch time on that run if I didn't slacken up after hitting a cone.

No doubt, my pig wouldn't turn for shit at the far end.

Same course, ~12% slower

Looks like a fun course to me. Bummed that I missed it. Better for a GI illness to hit at 5AM race day than 5 hours later, 2 hours from home.
