I'm in for fun runs!

What we have there is a seedling of a NCCAR weekend growing out of Friday.

This.

Steve Spampinato will be my escort for the morning (man that sounds bad) since the Miata is out of inspection and the registration can't be renewed...again. So, he will be there early to help out with the battery car event.

Anyone know if R-comps with the 2 dot grooves will pass state inspection?

I don't see why not. The only thing that would really raise a flag would be a test pipe.

I was passed with my car idling like garbage and misfiring.

According to NC General Statutes 20-122.1 -

"(a) Every motor vehicle subject to safety equipment inspection in this State and operated on the streets and highways of this State shall be equipped with tires which are safe for the operation of the motor vehicle and which do not expose the public to needless hazard. Tires shall be considered unsafe if cut so as to expose tire cord, cracked so as to expose tire cord, or worn so as to expose tire cord or there is a visible tread separation or chunking or the tire has less than two thirty‑seconds inch tread depth at two or more locations around the circumference of the tire in two adjacent major tread grooves, or if the tread wear indicators are in contact with the roadway at two or more locations around the circumference of the tire in two adjacent major tread grooves: Provided, the two thirty‑seconds tread depth requirements of this section shall not apply to dual wheel trailers."

So as long as the two circumferential grooves on each of your NT-01's is at least 2/32" deep, you should be okay, at least by the letter of the law. However, if you happen to get an inspector that isn't completely familiar with the specifics of this statute (i.e.: one of the kids working at the local Jiffy Lube), I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if he/she assumes failure based on lack of tread blocks.

Thanks Andrew and Keith. Yes, my concern was that the inspector might just eyeball them quickly and fail them even though they meet the requirements. Every inspector I have talked to in the last few years is almost paranoid about getting nailed by the state so they err to the extreme side of caution.

Dude, there has to be 50+ people around here with Miata/Honda wheels/tires you could borrow for a few hours to get inspected :).

^^^^this^^^^

done it myself just to pass inspection. Once the inspection is complete, that allowed me to find the tires I wanted and not play the hurry up game just to have tires installed.
