Wow. I wonder what it is about Pro's that make them fill quicker than Tours. It's taken a while just to get to 150 for Dixie next month.

1) It appears that the ones within easier reach of the North East fill fast (DC, NJ, Toledo). It seems to be a better register ASAP or tough luck for these. I don't know that any of the others other than the Finale do this.

2) Pros can be really great fun even if you don't expect to win even your class. However, the R1 CM index got significantly softer compared to the other R1 classes so I'm actually optimistic.

Seriously, 12 runs, drag start against a competitor within your class, the adrenaline rush at the line when you swap sides and your co-driver (or helper) is checking your tire pressures and feeding you information, the chance to make the challenge on Sunday....and the chance to go over data and video on Saturday night. Oh, and it's just freaking fun!

I know, I know!! :P With zero drag racing or street racing (I'll add obligatory 'is dumb') experience, it would still be fun. I wish the NJ one were later in the year. Oh well...

12 runs versus only 6 at a Tour would seem to be a pretty big crowd pleaser.

Buy practice starts on Friday. Be early, buy many. It really helps if the tires don't go up in smoke with too aggressive a launch. Not a problem for my FF. Rev high and go. If some slight bog, rev higher next time, especially since hotter tires will have more grip in my car. REALLY good launch grip has been known to result in red lights when leaving on the last yellow (assuming the driver simply didn't leave before the yellow  )

Sometimes, just the difference between morning and afternoon sessions requires a slight adjustment when leaving the line, since so much rubber builds up there. Funny, one of the reasons I stayed away from Pros for a couple of years was the fear of the launch. Now it's just part of the fun. I've only bought practice tickets a couple of times. You figure it out pretty quick.

Matt,
The other thing that I didn't think to mention is that the Pro Series is a points series based pretty much on your first 2-3 Pro events. The sooner you max your points, the sooner you can begin to block other points.

Still, Dick's correct that the mid country Pro events don't seem to fill as quickly as the east and west coast event.
