The Miata is still at Performance Chassis getting a roll bar install.
When we get it back we will finish prep it for the track.
The Porsche will see more road use now, ( the big wing as been removed)
She got back her old sport seat and the race seat will go in the Miata as the other track stuff.
My new ride might get some lowering spring, she's sitting a bit too high for my taste.
Will try it in AX this year for sure.

Tires are now mounted (thanks Jeb!) and I've picked up the speed3 exhaust. Heading out in the AM tomorrow to have exhaust installed and have the alignment over at Marks. Hope to beat the weather....

We have got the black car running . That is about it. We plan to run it on asphalt, and my car or t he ser on gravel. Which again is Carl's old car.The bmw was a chore, we had to basically frankenstein two engines bits together to make one. But as long as everything is weighted right, it works ok.I plan to be at CMP later this year with you all.

I isolated the HVAC door actuator (one of 3, it turns out) that has stripped a gear tooth and makes a horrible clacking noise when I start my Mustang. It's the one up high, hidden behind the dashboard support bar, so I'm debating the wisdom of trying to replace it myself (75% chance of eventual success, 100% chance of excessive cussing), or just taking it to the dealer.

Otherwise, decided to stay in FS until last year's A6s cord. Also need to schedule an appointment at the alignment shop.

Not going to bother. It's getting a TSE rad before VIR-N. I figure a 180-190*F thermostat and the giant radiator should keep things even and cool.

It's weird reading about the re-routes though. All of the 94-00 guys want the 01-05 HG, and then if you have an 01-05 you're advised to run the 94-00 HG.

Miatas: I'm just putting on a new roof so that I can enjoy the ride to autoXs.

Corvette
Done:all new belts and hoses, antifreeze, K&N air filter
TODO: Trans and rear end fluids, brake lines and flush
Questions:
What should I do to make it reliable on the track and still be autoX stock legal?
Acusump oil accumulator, shocks
What street tires would be good and what sizes? Limited numbers of companies make tires that fit Z06s.

From what I gather, the 01+ nb head gasket was re-designed to deal with the inadequate coolant flow around #4, a sort of band aid for the poor factory design. Aparently people have had problems running the 01+ gasket with a coolant re-route.

I'm not too surprised. I know that comparing stock for stock, the earlier motors would have something like a 20-30 degree differential between Cyl 1 & 4, and the VVT motors would be more uniform but run significantly warmer (I think it was due to both emissions and a band-aid of a solution).

Keep the oil level 1/2 quart high till you get the accusump, they can oil starve under hard cornering.Upgrade to brake pads to hawk dtc 60 or 70 or equivalent. I like 60 rear and 70 front. MUST HAVE an engine oil cooler for summer use. ALWAYS monitor oil temp when on the track, 275 degrees is time to pull it back. Put rubber non slip shelving liner on you seat to keep you ass from sliding off the seat in hard cornering and hang on you'll enjoy it.
Tires as large as you can fit 315 front and 335 rear with spacers, some prefer 315's all around but my preference is 335's in the rear. John Heinricy recommends a larger tire on the rear for optimal handling, I'm just sayin.........
