Alright, so who plans on running street tire class in 2013?

Jordan and I will be co-driving the 3 next year. I really hope he beats me.

I might. Working on getting my RX8 back to Stock legal and haven't decided yet whether to use up some old R comps or run in TIRE.

Any word yet on whether PAX Index will be adjusted (-2.5%?) for street tire class next season?

Keith, how did the RX8 do in STX...did you ever run stock class in it. The RX8 is on my short list for cars that I would have to get if something god forbid happened to my Civic. I came close to buying an RX8 in 2006 when I bought my car.
I like the thrid door and back seat option. I needed a car that I could autocross on Sunday and Take the kids to school/drive to work on Monday.

Steven,

The RX8 is an excellent choice for STX class and a decent daily driver. It would be a much better daily driver if it had more torque, but your Civic isn't exactly a torque monster either (assuming you haven't added forced induction), so probably a good choice.

What are the details on this? Link(s)? Is this something the SCCA is doing?

It's mentioned a couple times in this thread - http://thscc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=13211

Not sure if SCCA has applied the adjustment to the new RT* classes, but I'd assume it would have to be used for RT* classed cars in ProSolo shootouts.

I am seriously considering running RTR next year in the RX8 because of the pax break. And this past weekends driving of a well prepped star spec shod STR miata really made me decide its the way to go. Why throw $$ away at HoHo's to run in CS when I can run RTRCS in pro class. My magnet with NCR is going to be HUGE for next year! PRTRCS   8)

The likely scenario is to start off at a 2.0% break (0.980) like a lot of regional areas.

I thought about it more and a fixed percentage break for SS all the way to HS is kind of ridiculous. An SS C6 on 335 A6s going to 285 Star specs is going to have a much greater delta in performance than an HS car on 205/225 A6s going to 205 R1Rs/Star Spec. Seems that the RT* adjustment should be on a per class basis but they'll need a couple years of data to come up with it.

Oh wow, they're dropping it to a 0.02% 'discount' from 0.025%. Either way I think it's a good idea and will make the TIR class cars contenders moreso than before. The downside (not that it's a big deal) is that it pushes local stock classes' attendance down, as if STR and the other ST* classes weren't already doing that.

Overall, I think it's good for attendance as TIR class is one of our larger classes.

0.02% = 0.0002 :)

I think that SS should get more like a 3% discount but HS/GS should only get like 1.5% or so.

$1,000 to $1,500+ sets of Hoosiers that wear out in 30-50 runs ain't helping Stocks cause much either.

I'm glad that we no longer see TIR competitors as second class citizens or a "JV" league.

Agreed. In my case, I can run 285/30/18 A6's on my CStock RX-8 but would be somewhere in the 225 to 245 mm width range in a street tire, based on 18 x 8" wheel size. Hard to believe there would be just 1 second difference between these two tire set-ups on a 50 second course.
