Get it light enough and you can swap back to manual steering, saving even more weight

WOW, yeah, damn $110 does not suck.

I would talk to Dick Rasmussen and Patrice about the perils of slicks at our sites before going all in on DP.

The only American Racing brand slicks that I've heard anything about are hard spec tires for formula cars. I don't know if they make anything sticky for larger cars. You won't be "doing well" in PAX on the hard spec tires afaik. PAX normally assumes really stick tires such as Hoosier R25's and the equivalent GY, Avon, etc. in absolutely fully prepared cars.

The problem for my car at our sites is generally "sand/marbles" and generally low grip compared to the midwest concrete sites.

Also, with my car (and driver :( ) lack of tire heat is an issue in cooler weather. HOWEVER, the CM two driver cars did VERY well at the Blytheville Tour and Shootout in 40's temps with lots of wind. The overall winner was a BM car. Bytheville is pretty good concrete and also is fast which helps Mod cars.

Dick

Why not run them on the car even if you stay in CSP/SSM? A quick google search in that size turned up some positive reviews of them with respect to feel and grip when compared to Hoosier's. It looks like they have a compound comparable to A6's also. I did not find anything about long term wear or heatcycle.

They are not a "dot" tire, therefore not csp or ssm legal.

Ryan car weighed 2010lbs at zmax earleir this year before lighter seats lighter battery and "aero"

Suddenly I have a stronger desire to run RTR (CS) rather than STX. Will we be using the 0.975 tire multiplier for the Top Gun award?

I don't see why not Scott. We won't be doing RTR/A/F because it would water down the classes too much. TIR will be unchanged except for the .975 'discount' if we can pull it off (hope so, as it seems only fair). Then again, it sort of keeps the stock classes moving in the way of the dinosaur with less folks buying r-comp$...

I'm not surprised at the bumps, especially DS and HS. I don't think GS should have gone up though.

heavy? compared to?? Light weight csp cars are 1950ish, that is with motorcycle brakes and holes drilled in EVERY engine pulley and titanium bolts!!! The entire left 1/4 of my car is full of bondo from a previous accident. This DP thing is really in my mind right now. Loving that idea that car would/could be a track car also!!! 1928 would be my "DP" weight minimum. Not to shabby.

Excuse the n00b question, but if my car is DS, but I plan on running in TIR, what letters should I have on the side of my car?

TIR is what you'll run.

I, for one, am relieved. It was embarrassing for an FS car to be considered slower than an ES car. But now that's been fixed, and I can sleep better

Art,

Are you running open class FS on r-comps or TIR class this year?

I'm going to run last year's A6s until they cord (FS open class) and then decide what to do for the rest of the year.

I'm pondering something similar. I have two year old 275/35-18 A6s that aren't in the best of shape and are probably pretty hard by now. However, I'd like to run TIR with the new BFG Rival, but it won't be available in the size I need until June. Hence pondering putting the A6s on, carting them to events, changing, etc. At least for the first part of the season it won't be ridiculously hot. I have to be careful lifting with my left shoulder too as I have a small labrum tear too.

Let me see if I've got this right:
My 240SX is eligible for DSP, with a PAX derived from cars with no catalyst, and unstreetable suspension.
It's also eligible for STC, a.k.a. "Spec '91 Civic".

But I could run it as RTR with a DSP PAX?
0.855 x 0.975 = 0.834
PAX for STC = 0.824

In STC all I can hope for is something besides a Spec Civic shows up, so I can finish second to last.
I'm tempted to run in RTR, but I don't think the PAX will do me any favors.
