You know, this is something we should attempt to pull off. I think this would be uber tiring, but an absolute blast...

It is exhausting, but you can always go back to the tent or hotel for a quick nap. The neat part is that in the wee hours you can make a run, then go right back to the start, run, repeat.

They always finish early. It only takes me 2 hours from Durham, should only be 1.5 or so for you.

The 6pm gates close clause is more for NASA because that's when they kick them out.

Jeremy and I might go to the Triad event on the 26th.

great day for driving....well-run event by Triad, even if the site was pretty tight. 35 sec course similar to G'vegas layout. 70 minute commute to G'boro, 5 runs, home by 215. Free lunch on-site (hotdogs, drinks etc) made it that much better.

Solved my understeer problem, drove OK but got nicked by a phantom cone on the final run--sigh.

Oh, and had time for 2 hours of golf practice, a shower and a beer before the kids got home!

Hope NASA-VMP was fun too!

Here's my video of my fastest run. Was a fun course, lots of sweeping. Finishing up by 1:30 was sweet so I got a lot of stuff done today. Man, not being a VP is awesome sometimes :).

I'm not going to complain about a top 10 PAX at a Triad event and quicker than the torque monster ;).

Indeed it was other than a brief mechanical hiccup. I got 10 runs on a wide open 60 second hoot of a course, tapped the rev limiter (72 mph) at one point and the average speed was easily above 45 and no rain! The only person I knew there was Jeff Eng in his new to him Civic. We didn't get out of there until 4:30, and it was a longer dive home, but I was glad to be there rather than the G'boro PnR.
:D

Yeah, I saw those times and though you might have forgotten your car and brought your mountain bike out instead.

so, in this thread, we have guy who was happy to be done by 1:30 and another who would be happy starting at 1:30.

Maybe the club could look at a format that would cater to both of these people. You could even make more money by charging extra for those who want to run all day.

um, wat?

I didn't see anyone say something about being glad to start at 130pm. Both James and I were happy to finish up early as we had other stuff to do that day. BUT, 10 runs on a 60-second course would have been awesome had I not needed the time to practice for an upcoming golf tournament.

Nevertheless, you have a valid point about variability in when people want to show up. Maybe elucidate further in the "Improving the Club" thread?

Oh sorry, I guess les mentioned that the VMP event started later in a phone conversation, and I thought that was in here. Anyway, I know Les would be okay with a late start.

Jason, you are correct...the NASA event had a noon start on the web link.

edit: all the NCCAR events are a late start due to a quiet hour. So if someone wants to sleep in and then autocross we have that request covered when we run there. Might be tough to meet all desires at all events through the whole season, though.

Indeed, at least in the summer months when there is daylight until 8pm, a 1:30 start time would rule, for those that need to do other stuff they can still get up at the crack of dawn and do that crap then. :-D
