NEW SITE! Points event #6 DATE AND SITE CHANGE

Our August event will no longer be at Danville. No worries, nothing wrong with Danville, just that we were worried people might be getting tired of it. So instead, we decided we would try out a new site. Piedmont Dragway will be hosting our event on SATURDAY August 4th. Burlington has noise ordinances that prevent us from running on Sundays before noon. For those curious, pit will be on the north side of the 1/8th mile track, and the course will take place on some combination of the staging lanes, the parking lot, and the side roads on the south side. There are REAL bathrooms at this site (actually, there should be two sets if the newest ones are finished in time), a concession stand that they will likely open for us, as well as some bleachers you can stand on to see the track well. We are very excited about this new site, and want to put our best foot forward for this event. Entrance to the site will be on the farthest eastern gate, all other gates will be closed/locked.

Great work! Looks thematically similar to Dixie, but a little less track-like. How is the pavement on those roads between the grassy areas? Looks like you could get a 45-55 sec course out of it.

basically, we are ok to use anything on the south side of the track. Those roads are narrow, but usable for some parts of the track, particularly the wider section, and we could easily end it with a left turn and then a right. We'll need a good amount of timing cable to make it all work, but I think this has a good chance to be combine a lot of the good parts of Greenville with a site that has more usable space. Runoff room is abundant.

Me too and it was the last date they had available in August. :thumbsup:

This place is 46 miles from the Durham Bulls park and 70 miles from downtown Raleigh. Woo!!

In the wrong direction for me. I got to bow out of EC duties for this one as I will be crewing for an F1000 team at Mid Ohio that weekend and will be watching WC, ALMS and Indy racing there that weekend as well.

I was out there for someone's work event. I believe it was ~40 minutes to the Fayetville rd exit on 40 and exactly an hour to Hillsboro st and 440. Nice easy right straight down 40/85, the place is like 2 turns off the highway. There is also some significant elevation changes in the parking lot section, would add an element to our courses that we don't get to see when we use airports.

That's great news - a big thank you to everyone involved.

Any word on whether this is a one-time only arrangement, or is there opportunity to use this site with some consistently in the future?

If it works well, it can become a regular site. They are probably a Saturday only site due to local noise regulations (no loud cars before noon) but they are open to talking with us for next year.
