Jordan is in need of some street/autox brake pads for his 06 MINI. Also needs a sensor for it. Any suggestions on a good dual use pad? Hawks?

I'm a big fan of StopTech Street Performance pads, I'm on my 2nd set for the S2000. Good initial bite, medium-low dust, very low noise, and they last a long time. Perfect for autox and street use.

I concur with Zach. The Stoptechs have at least as much bite as the OEM pads (probably more), are quiet, and they dust significantly less than the OEM pads. Plus, the price is pretty good.

We tried some Hawk HPS pads for our Mini. Not recommended. Not only aren't they as good as the OEM pads, we can barely even get into the ABS with them.

I was disappointed with the HPS's on my Si too, especially for the cost. On the other end, the HP+'s were ridiculously grabby, almost an on/off switch and brake dust aplenty.

I'd like to find a pad like the Axxis Ultimates for the S2k as they seem to be a good compromise, bu they don't make them any more. The Stoptechs seem like a decent choice, similar to the Ult's.

Axxis Ultimate = StopTech Street Performance. ;-)

I ordered Axxis a couple years ago, and received StopTech. When I emailed to complain, here's the response I got from the vendor:

THMotorsports wrote:
Axxis has discontinued their lineup in the United States and are keeping it
only in Australia. They have decided to partner up with Stoptech in the USA
and distribute Axxis through Stoptech. The pads are identical and are Axxis
Ultimates, but now re-branded as Stoptech. This all happen in 2009 when
Centric Brake company (who makes OEM blanks) purchased Stoptech and
Powerslot, thereafter merging the names. It seems a month after, Axxis got
in on it, as Axxis ultimates were the pads supplied in Stoptech Big brake
kits. There is a little bit of industry inside info ;).

I've had HP+s on my Miata since I've owned it. They dust like crazy, but they work (even on the track for baby's first or second track day).

I've been impressed with Hawk so far, but I've never run the HPS street replacement pads... not sure if I'm going to now after hearing there was issue with getting them to activate ABS.

edit: +3 on KNS; for the 3 times I've called rotordude69 up, KNS has been more than able to beat all online prices and it costs less with tax+shipping to KNS versus ordering online.

hawk hps are crap, my last vir student had them on his m coupe. we went off in turn 1 after they turned to mush, and wasn't even driving hard.

hp+ is much better except for the dust, we run them on the integras without incident. and we do drive them hard :)

performance friction pads are my favorite and they're generally available in bmw fitments, not sure if the mini falls into that category.

I looked and KNS doesn't appear on the club supporters/sponsors list. Did they drop us?

Oh, they're on the track page and not the main webpage. Never understood why we had 2 separate webpages. Now that Triangle Z is out, why not marry these 2 pages back, but that's just me. Thanks for the link.

Do I order just stoptech or is there a sub-model/part number to look for?

This will be fixed soon. As many know, there's a long history of the Track program running largely separate and parallel to the rest of the club, as is witnessed during the financial reports at each meeting. Coordinating the sponsorships into a single list has been one of my goals over the last year, but I've been buried and making little progress of late. Plan to get updated info to the web teams soon, however.

The guy at KNS said they hadn't renewed sponsorship, so I got no club-related discount. Maybe that changed in the past couple months, but I am not sure. Still cheaper than other places after considering taxes and shipping.

KNS is ABSOLUTELY a current club sponsor and has renewed for the year (relatively recently).
